Yeah, I'm pretty good on history so I know the broader story.I won't ruin it for you but if you know anything about WWI you know it doesn't have a happy ending
also i should mentioned that this novel was as astounding as it was devastating. i may or may not have been cutting some onions while reading it. strong recommend from me.

I've started it and I don't like the narrator at all; I'm managing to get past that though and I've enjoyed the first chapter. I'll let you know when I've finished it.
I still recommend Malazan Book of the Fallen to anyone who hasn't tried it yet. Makes lotr, got and wot look like children's books.
Who were the guys that were just now reading it? Where you at? You get hooked yet?
I forget if its this one or the next one where you finally find out why Cotillion got the moniker, "The Rope."Just started Midnight Tides.

Fucking badass scene. You won't be disappoint.
Yeah the one where he protects the Throne of Shadow. I thought that was one of the side plots in MT for some reason. Looks like I need another reread! That was book 4 if what you're talking about is when he fights the Edur on that island. Or when he fights against the soldiers of the Whirlwind.
Book 5 seems to be all about Trull Sengar and the Edur.
