Hardcore Fans are delusional. Except for Masvidal, we have fighters with 7 or more winning streaks contending for the title. The division is MUCH BETTER than GSP's time.
Remember, GSP got a title shot after 2 fights in the UFC, and he lost. He fought the same 4 guys like 8 times, he defended against Nick Diaz who was 1-1 in the UFC, he defended against Jake Shields who was 1-0 in the UFC, he defended against Carlos Condit who was 5-1 in the UFC.
The most legit dudes GSP faced were Johnny Hendricks, Josh Koscheck, Thiago Alves, Jon Fitch, and Matt Hughes.
The idea that any UFC division is "weak" relative to other organizations or the UFC in the past is not supported by any evidence. Therefore, it is probably not true. Most likely an uninformed belief biased by nostalgia.
WW has clearly regressed over the years , Imagien what GSP would do to today welterweights.
Ya alot of awesome fighters see just not getting a push at all because they don't fit the new trash talk hype machine contender mold. Wme is all about showing profit to the investors so they don't back many guys with promotional money at all.Division is loaded. It is the match making that sucks. Second longest win streak in the division and not in the top 10, smdh. At least 3 guys outside the top 10 who have won at least 5 straight and 8/9 or better. Colby is only tied for the 4th longest win streak in the division.
I don't think so. The overall level of quality has increased. It's just their styles aren't as fan friendly as it is wrestling top position based.WW has clearly regressed over the years , Imagien what GSP would do to today welterweights.
Ummm, so Usman, Covington, Edwards, and Masvidal are too of the heap in WW now? This seems sad...
