True, but if he survived the first couple of rounds, that might have happened. I'm not sold on Khamzat being a strong 5-round fighter based on the Burns and Usman fights.

to be fair the submission khamzat landed is pretty rare and was probably related to an earlier fracture from sparring


Khamzat is fucking monster tho, and im not trying to take away from him even though I just kinda did lol

Im just saying this is Emma and had Whittaker survived till the later round who know what woulda happened

The two midline frontal incisors and the right paracentral incisor of the mandible (teeth #24-26) have been fractured and separated from the remainder of the mandible. The posterior displacement suggests that he had to be rushed to the hospital because he was at risk of losing his airway (ie. suffocating because the broken jaw piece would block his oropharynx)

It is the same type of injury that Kanye West suffered after his car accident, causing him to have his jaw wired shut and write his first hit single "Through the Wire".

This is probably what will happen to Rob. Khamzat literally crushed his jaw into three pieces like a lifesaver and with the force of a motor vehicle accident. I don't think Rob will ever be the same.

Khamzat had a case of COVID a few years ago that was so bad his doctors thought he had lung cancer. If someone can survive his early onslaught and take him into the later rounds, that's the only chance -- but it will have to be someone with early JDS or Chuck level take down defense. So far, they've come up with an unsolvable equation. Let's see how DDP does with the fight algebra.

It was Devin Clark. Happened a few years ago.

I would give the caveat that I'm making a diagnosis off a picture of a picture on a cell phone, but if the teeth were only dislocated they wouldn't displace en bloc like that (like a lego piece instead of kernels of corn).

His chin, both literally and in the sense of being able to take a punch, will never be the same.

I suspect Bobby's fight camp will conceal the extent of the injury so his next opponent doesn't target it.

He is one of my favorite all time fighters. Unforgiving sport.

And what would you want him to do? Duck Khamzat when most likely UFC wanted it?

Also what did you think he would say pre fight, that he has no confidence winning and is gonna get his jaw crushed from a face crank?

I had to quit sparring because I’ve had multiple new fractures after breaking my Mandible in a car accident. It was just more fragile, and I also noticed more pain from sparring before the breaks. Rob is a better athlete than I am, but a broken jaw is no joke!

RDA had a titanium plate and screws put in after his jaw broke against guida, came back, went on a run and took the belt.
