Masvidal is very good and very underrated, but I don't think he beats Green stylistically. I think Masvidal is more likely to pressure than Thomson was and will allow Green to counter him with his superior speed. Masvidal won the Cruickshank fight because of his wrestling, I highly doubt that will happen here.

It'll be a stand up affair and I don't think Masvidals striking is diverse or quick enough to avoid being countered by Greens speed.

EDIT - Newsflash - if Josh Thomson couldn't out-wrestle Green when he attempted to, Masvidal certainly fucking isn't doing it. And I much prefer Jorge to Green.

Cerrone is available and he's higher ranked then Masvidal. He would have been a logical matchup for Green.

Masvidal, meanwhile, should have fought someone like Michael Johnson or Edson Barboza.

Skillwise, i'd say he's close to top 10. If not, he's in the same league at least as the guys on the lower end of it.

That doesn't change the fact the Green should be fighting a higher ranked opponent.

It's a great matchup between two fighters that I like a lot. I like Masvidal a bit more, so I'll likely be cheering for him. We're likely going to get some decent shit talk in and out of the cage. It's a bit of a shame that one is going to have to lose, but hopefully both will impress. There really is a crazy amount of talent at LW.
