Bo Nickal vs Ikram Aliskerov

Who would you favor to win in this hypothetical match up, right now?

As the poll says...

Of course they get a good camp to prepare for each other. Let's say this would take place in three months.

Discuss.

This is just ridiculous. There is absolutely no way that Bo wins this right now in his career.Aliskerov is a serious top of the food chain grappler. He’d give Bo all kinds of trouble. Could probably even keep it on the feet… Bo would be fucked

The fact that as of right now more than 50% are picking Bo to win is a testament to how much recency bias drunk idiots there are on these boards.

Bud, the kind of wrestling, athleticism and talent for fighting he is showing is very remarkable. He has power and just had a super slick submission. You'd be a fool to underestimate him and not take his chances at winning against most guys in his weight class seriously. That's not to say he definitely wins, but he definitely has a shot. Even if someone thinks that shot is like 55%, that person could still vote Bo.

It's not ridiculous. If you think Bo has no chance, then it's an easy choice for you and you can vote Ikram.

@BigTruck Burns is still a close second though. As an opponent I think Burns was a bigger challenge, but the prerformance is what lowers the W a bit.

It was kind of a draw, IMO. Blowing away a stylistic tough match up that was unbeaten and has gone unbeaten since, is more impressive than a sloppy performance that was more a draw than a clear W. Dude is a multiple time world Sambo champ, let's not forget and from Dagistan. Dude has been dealing with Khamzat's style of freestyle wrestling for the longest time, I imagine.
Your opinion nore does mine change an outcome and I consider burns by far his best win but to each it's own.

People just love jumping on hype trains so they can say see I told you so I was a fan "before" it was cool. Like I said I like up and commers but I'll wait till he beats someone worth a damn before I start believing the hype.

People like to jump on hype trains because it's fun rooting for an exciting prospect.

I agree It is but people also blindly believe hype to look cool whoever is trendy. I'd love to see Bo be the real deal but I'll wait to pass judgement.

Aliskerov submits Bo in the 2nd round. I don’t think Khamzat beats Aliskerov if he doesn’t land that KO either.
Khamzat landed a knock down even before the KO. It wasnt fluke or anything

Bo is a gamer for sure. Took on Gordon Ryan with 3 weeks of BJJ training! His wrestling pedigree is well known and we dont need to go over accolades to prove it. What i think a lot of folks forget is where he trains and with whom he trains with. He's still training at Penn State and with the NLWC which has some of the best wrestlers in the world. American Top Team just built a state of the art facility on campus as well.

His wrestling and scrambling ability is some of the best i've seen and i've been watching college wrestling since 92-93. How he implements that against the top 10 guys remains to be seen and none of us really know how that'll pan out. He has some good power in his hands but we''ll have to see how he responds to getting hit..much as we did when Khazmet took on Burns and answered those questions.

Bo is supremely confident and is a definite star in the making. It's got the internet talking and bringing more attention to the sport and potential match ups he can have. As a die hard Buckeye i hated Bo in college lol but im really lookin forward to his career in the octagon! The match with Khazmet could be absolute fireworks..an no matter how it goes it'll be watched by millions.

That’s not my argument though.

He can have all the talent in the world but subbing and knocking out a couple cab drivers on the contender series doesn’t warrant him being favoured against a world champion combat sambo fighter, who not too long ago went toe to toe with a generational talent in Chimaev, stopping all his takedowns, until he got caught clean by that uppercut. Which by the way is also his only loss.

Bo Nickal, as phenomenal a wrestler as he is, is unproven against any serious opposition. You know that just as much as I do.

Both of them beat nobodies btw, that ikram guys record is full of cans with 10 losses and the other literally beat nobody

That's your opinion. Other people have other opinions. I don't think you make a good case for yours being the only legit one and people who have Bo for whatever reason are by default "idiots going hy recency bias"(paraphrasing), as you put it.

Just because someone hasn't proven he is capable of defeating high level comp, doesn't mean he can't beat high level comp. Maybe you always caution on the side of the more proven fighter, but history tells us that big upsets by less proven guys do happen.

We’ll see. Or we won’t. I’d like the matchup.

I hope we will, yeah. I thought it would be a good test to see if he really is as good as many pro fighters seem to think. Especially because Khamzat comes into the conversation a lot, but Bo isn't fighting him any time soon. But Ikram just entered the UFC, too, so it's more likely to happen.

Bo is like the next big American hope. The UFC will built him up slowly. He can call out the big names without worrying, cause he ain’t fighting them anytime soon.

Fun Fact, if we were not talking about Bo Nickal but lets say theoretically Sadulaev joined MMA and was 3-0 without receiving one significant punch, you would be calling everyone who voted against him and for some top50 fighter, a drunk and biased caucasus-muslim hater.

Bo Nickal is the best wrestler that's entered the UFC except for Cejudo.

He'll beat all Russian challengers and be a 185 Jon Jones

Bo is really talented but his not ready for Ikram Aliskerov he needs atleast one more year in the UFC before taking on someone like Ikram Aliskerov he needs to grow on that experience
