News Bo Nickal signs with Hulk Hogan's freestyle wrestling promotion

Honestly if this promotion can provide a viable alternative to amateur wrestlers to either getting concussed in mma when you can lose all your progress to a title shot with an errant strike, or having to work 200 days of the year in pro-wrestling and all the injuries that come with it, I think that's a good thing.

Makes sense. Sensei Hogan was fighting PRIDE FC guys back in the 70's. Along with wrestling 400 days a year, inventing the Foreman grill, inspiring Elvis' corpse to be a Hulkamaniac, and being invited to play bass for Metallica. These two are made for each other.

You know, as someone who has LOOOOOOOOOOONG asked for better pay for fighters, I'm all for the cross-promotion the UFC does with BJJ/wrestling/whatever else.

I get it's probably all a bit of a cartel, but who cares?

A minimum level of activity and pay should be expected, and this almost ensures it can be for some.

Curious to see how RDR does against Whittaker coming up soon, might make Bo's performance not seem so bad if RDR can dominate again.
I think RDR wins. But it will be criticized as Bobby is just falling off. RDR doesn’t get his credit because his style looks ugly.

I assume the wrestling tournaments won't take anything out of him, easy weekend.

Let's see he may pivot to UFC BJJ if it starts to take off. It will be interesting to see how he comes back from this loss. It will either be great for his career or it will show his ceiling. I'm hoping we see him turn it around, Just doesn't seem to scream confidence to have this news.
Is he even a black belt? Just because he’s good at wrestling doesn’t automatically mean he’ll dominate in BJJ (or be good enough to compete at UFC BJJ level).

Glad they're letting him do this like they usually let BJJ guys compete in their tournaments.

As a wrestler parent I'm super interested in what happens with this league and i would love to see it prosper. I really think if more people watched wrestling they'd love it. Esp understanding what the athletes put into it.

My kid may never make it, but he's already a state champ so who knows. It would just be super cool to see a professional opportunity for real wrestlers outside of the Olympics, fake pro wrestling, and MMA.

I think he’s a blue belt. And don’t think he would be able to compete at the highest level.

But he’s good enough for the roster that UFC BJJ will have.

The promotions exclusivity will scare a lot of top talent away. They have a lot of mma fighters he could easily get some competitive matches there if he is picking fights well.

does he have to sell the tickets to the crowd like bellator?
