Bo Nickal hype is not real

No but you are fooling yourself if you think the average UFC prelim fighter is that much more skilled than your average regional fighter

I would definitely say so. That's why guys with pristine records accumulated in regional promotions regularly get crushed by average UFC talent once they get signed

Bo has 3 national champions in NCAA wrestling. It makes no sense for him to fight on the regionals because (1) he's already famous with a national audience Interested in his fights and (2) given his experience level he would quite likely have trouble finding reasonable opponents for him on the regional scene. The guy he fought in his debut looked like a carnie.

If he fought 6x on the regionals for peanuts you'd be saying call me when he fights someone with a pulse, so he can't win, you're going to find something to complain about either way.

The UFC needs to stop signing guys with less than 5 fights.

How can you even dare to throw that guy into the current WW division.
Not to mention how they keep pushing this nobody on the main card for these ppvs as well. Look at the great fights that get pushed down for that dana white privilege. And don't the main card fighters get ppv points or something as well that the under card don't? So guys deserving of being on the main, get pushed down and lesser money. Robbie fight should absolutely be on the main, and this Bo fight on the super under prelims.

Nah bro.

The average UFC fighter is only with the promotion for 3 years. That is the majority of fighters. Cut quickly

Anyone who lasts longer than that is above average.

Bo still is only 27. He is still developing his game. No one is saying he is champ material at this minute.. but if he stays busy and keeps working, who knows in 2-3 years.

I saw fear in Nickal, particularly fear of striking. All he's confident with is wrestling. He doesn't know if his chin is for real. He doesn't know if his striking is adequate.

But he was on a huge stage at this juncture of his career.

It'll be interesting to see his reaction when someone stuffs his D1 wrassling.

He trains at ATT, I can guarantee he's sparring with some high level strikers. I'm sure he knows how his chin holds up lol. Christ.

You are confused as to how card placement works.

The UFC like to space out fighters with big followings in order to get viewers to watch the whole card.

That way they can sell ads against the whole broadcast. Think of it like social media that want to keep you engage the whole time.

If they just put all the big names on the main card or at the very end more fans would just skip the prelims and just watch the very last fights on the card.

That means fights with big names are usually sandwiched around fights with low interest. The idea is that when you go to watch a big name fight that you won’t bother to change the channel during less interesting fight because another big name fight comes in right after.

And don't the main card fighters get ppv points or something as well that the under card don't?

This is 100% false. You get paid the exact same regardless of where you are placed on the card

So guys deserving of being on the main, get pushed down and lesser money. Robbie fight should absolutely be on the main, and this Bo fight on the super under prelims.

The idea is to have a big fight on the featured prelim to get viewers hooked so they will buy the PPV. The are using Robbie’s popularity to try and sell the card. This isn’t a sign of disrespect

And once again fighters get paid the same regardless of where they are on the card

Let him go through his journey and lose. It will humble him.
I’m sure most ppl are rooting for him to lose. Which is kind of sad, no? He seems like a good dude.

“Guy gets a 1st round finish”

sherdog: it took him a long time to finish the submission! Garbage!

never change sherdog. You literally can’t be trusted with your own sherdog password without making a fool of yourself, so I doubt you have worthwhile insight about grappling I can’t get elsewhere.

Against a guy who is 5-2 and tailor made for him to beat? No, not really impressive. It's the caliber of fighters that he should be facing but usually fighters do that on the regional amateur circuit and not in the UFC
A 5-2 professional fighter is the same caliber of fighter you find on the “regional amateur circuit?”
You have no fucking idea what you’re taking about and have quite obviously never competed in any Combat Sport, ever.

I pick fights like that all the time and those kind of records are pretty common. You obviously don't know what you are talking about. WHy wouldn't there be guys with a 5-2 record on regional amateur circuits?

Lol I just looked him up (Zack Borrego) and you look even more silly. Get this: The dude has never beaten a single fighter with a positive win-loss ratio hahaha even in his amateur fights from 2021 which means the dude is basically the definition of your average regional amateur. Dude is a tomato can

Get this: you can’t be a 5-2 PROFESSIONAL fighter in the AMATEUR Regional MMA scene, genius. Everything else you said is irrelevant.

Ah so it's about semantics for you. Seems like you don't really get how this fight game works. Some people skip the amateurs all together while some have like 10 amateur fights or more before they go professional. There's no distinct skill difference between pros and amateurs at that number of fights.
An amateur who has fought and won 15 times has more experience and skill than a pro who has only fought 3 times

How about you get there in the cage and show us how to do it correctly? It's a fight. If his opponent didn't get out of it then it was successful. As simple as that!
Terrible post.

The hype is just hype. He talked himself up. He already has fame, like Brock. The skill is still legitimate, unlike CM Punk. Only time will tell how good he is, but he’s not some can.

He'll improve As long as they bring him on correctly.
Should he be receiving fights on event of this magnitude and so nicely positioned on the cards too? Obviously not on merit earned in mma but the ufc does what the ufc does. They want to squeeze any drops they can get using his name.
I really hope they chose his opponents wisely instead of the usual rush them until they get a far too dangerous opponent way too soon and take a beating. A beating that might not only damage the career but worse.

They need to start playing the long game. They could have more future superstars that way.
Who wants to come to the ufc, " the big leagues " of the whole sport. Green as a bag of kale in almost every area,, get paid a peanut contract and be pushed each fight stupidly fast. I know he is washed and I say that with no disrespect to robbie lawler, man's a legend. I wouldn't have been surprised for them to have booked that fight. It's just their tactic. Role the dice hoping bo can make a name off of and old legend and send rob off with a big fuck you but that one would backfire massively.
I loved how nates last fight played out. They tried to do him dirty.

My whole attitude to this rant makes me respect and appreciate guys like O'malley. Talented young guy. Very popular , all of his own doing I might add. Just what the ufc loves. Put no work in . Stood his ground and said fuck that, I'm not fighting guys of that stature without the money it deserves too
