Bo Nickal had quitter Vibes

He just doesn’t have that dog in him. Look at wonder boy, gsp, cejudo, topuria, Chandler etc. These guys seem relatively well off without fighting, Bo’s just never been pressure tested
Cejudo lost the same way against Mighty mouse

maybe you can find a few outliers but socioeconomic class + chill vibe are not ingredients for a good fighter.

Arman, Penn, and Weidman are different.

Arman is from a mafia family, and BJ has the crazy vibe. I can't see Bo Nical being drunk and getting knocked out by a fat guy in a parking lot. Chris Weidman was brutalized by his brother growing up.

I don't know bro I think you're doing confirmation bias, fighter toughness seems all over the map. RDR seems plenty tough and I don't think he's from the ghetto or trailer park in Holland or anything. Same with Mousasi. Or does this only apply to Americans?

I never liked Bo being shoved in our faces but people on here making character assumptions like this about him is wrong imo.

He competed at a high (but not the highest) level in wrestling and did well in MMA (in general terms).

This guy has grit and he proved it.

Body shots fold everyone because the body goes into fetal position- it has nothing to do with heart. It would happen to Jon Jones, Khabib, Frankie Edgar.

The guy got wrecked, got his body destroyed, don’t see the with vibes

I wouldn't use the word heart. I would use the word incentive. The more comfortable your life is, the less incentive your gonna have to take a beating for money.

like, Jean Silva is from the favelas, and witnessed his mom get gang raped. And his mom murdered those guys. When he fights, the vibe is so different, you know he is willing to die in that cage.
okay, no i am a fan of Jean Silva wow.

Honestly when Bo was getting lit up at the end, he actually started getting aggressive and throwing heat. It was just too late to be the hammer when he was the mail the whole fight. He is way too comfortable not controlling the fight until he's in trouble. Needs to learn a thing or 2 from Khamzat.

Everyone has a plan until theyre kneed in the ribcage

As soon as he announced he was expecting a child with his partner, it was over.

Father time remains undefeated.
For most athletes they lose that extra 10% when they get married and have a child. It’s a totally different lifestyle as compared to everything about you and training as much as you want whenever you want. You have to be selfish to be elite and in MMA this rears it ugly head really fast.

It’s also why Jon Jones has been able to stay at a high level since he doesn’t give two craps about his family. By contrast Alexander Gustafsson wasn’t the same fighter after having kids.

His vibe was like super chill, middle class white guy type of vibe. like, he does sports because he likes to compete and have fun. Grill meats on the weekend and take the boat out with the bros type vibe.

you can't live like this and have the heart of a real fighter

A guy like Jean Silva isn't fighting for fun, he is fighting because it is life or death for him. If he wasn't fighting he would probably be in jail for murder. this is the vibe of a real fighter.
Or a vibe of a POS criminal brazillian that will end up in jail sooner or later.

Charles quitting is grossly exaggerated

Part of it came from a fight where he tore his esophagus and literally his life was in danger

As he filled out his frame he became very durable.

Most guys aren't fighting elite UFC guys from age 20.
Oliveira had to learn on the job and did it at a very very high level, fighting guys like Pettis, Holloway, Jim Miller, Frankie Edgar and Cowboy. Dude jumped straight into the shark tank

Most guys go thru those fighter "life lessons" in a regional org, and you can GET AWAY with an off night at that level. Charles was facing superstars and Killers pretty much from the jump in his UFC career. Cub Swanson, Jeremy Stephen's, Brookins even Darren Elkin, that's a tough run not to mention the occasion champ/challenger tier guys he got thrown in with even early on

The weight cut to FW also made him far less durable and he got thrown to the wolves before he developed a real striking game.

Most fighters never bounce back from that type of adversity - Oliviera is one of the few elite fighters that had a will forged in savage beatings and washout defeats against fighters a considerable level above him…that typically breaks a man’s will/soul and he’s never the same.

Somehow he built himself back better and stronger and become champ with that history, dude is a true legend of the game.

watching the gifs,i saw someone who got multiple knees and punches to the body, you take the heart, the head follows. Anderson silva did exactly the same to rich Franklin, brutalised the body, when the arms came down he rearranged richs nose . high level may Thai fighters are excellent at doing that. I reserve judgment on until I see his next fight.

I've always thought the Oliveira is a quitter narrative to be way overstated.

I think his early struggles were due mostly to a lack of durability because he was at the wrong weight class. The caliber of his opposition certainly didn't help matters either.

Not to mention Silva is from a scary place and didn't have a great childhood, that’s more like it for a fighter
