Bloodborne v2, The Hunt Begins

What I found that worked was to roll forward once, and then roll backwards until it's done.

It's not 100% effective but I managed to go several attacks without getting hit doing this.

Some suggested running at him to the left but that never worked for me.

Do you have the Tonitrus from the Unseen Village? Makes that fight quite a bit easier.

Upgrade your flamesprayer as much as possible and spray the shit out of his sides. Stay close or he'll turn on you. Use bone marrow ash to augment the damage.

I finally beat Rom using a Rifle Spear +6. :icon_chee:icon_chee

I cleared out all of the spiders first and then took him on. I realized you can kill them if you hit them on the side. I found the best way to dodge the ice is to be locked on to something and then start dodging to the left as he drops his head to cast the ice spell.

That bastard took me hours to beat , but now I have a method for beating him. :icon_chee

I feel like I'm severely over-levelled for my current progress. I stumbled into the shadow of yharnam fight totally unprepared, beat them on the first attempt and never came close to death

What level are you? What weapon are you using?

finally finished Eileen's quest so I got the hunter of hunters badge
finished my session last night by killing the one reborn

I think i'm in the late 50s, can't remember exact level atm and i'm at work. I'm using Ludwigs holy blade +6

I was level 49 for that fight I think and felt like that was about right if not a bit high.

Rom is recommended to be faced at around 60. So being 50 for the shades is pretty standard.

Got the Ashen Bone set last night and finished central pthumarian chalice.

The Pthumarian Descendent actually killed me once. That fight was surprisingly tricky relative to the rest of the dungeon/bosses of that area.

I went to Cainhurst Castle next and felt slightly under leveled at 60. I guess I'll go finish Nightmare Frontier or Yarguhl.

Did you progress much in Cainhurst?

I would think 50-60 is a fine range for it. I was in the mid 50s last night and breezed through it quicker than I thought I would.

Yahar'gul is probably the next best place though.

All the mobs outside of Cainhurst are far worse than what's inside until you start getting to the sections around the end that have blowgun servants. I think 60 should be fine for Cainhurst.

I like to use blue elixir in unseen village on the run to one reborn...
things get abit chaotic with the necromancers constantly reviving enemies .

No I was pretty tired so I just walked around the outside and it took me like 5-6 hits with my +6 juiced up cane to kill a single little worm enemy and figured I do some other areas first.

It took me two good swings with my Ludwig to kill those worms so probably not too far off. I think the characters inside the castle are much easier than the ones outside.

I absolutely love that area though. Might be my favorite in the game.

Ok I'll go farther in tonight. I've been trying to make progress into chalice dungeons but they are starting to get a little too repetitive for me. I like facing new bosses, though.

Anyone know of any good weapon gems?

So far I've been pretty disappointed by the weapon upgrades in this game. I have a shitload of gems and at the end of the day the best results still come from PHYS ATTACK UP.

I have a Gem that bumps my skill scaling from B to A and it still wasn't as good as a big physical boost. Even adding rapid poison and flame damage fell short.

I'm sure it would come to play against certain bosses that may have poison/bolt/flame weakness but in general I feel like just using the high tempering blood gemstones have the best results.

What am i missing?

Maybe it's because I've beat them 100 times, but playing through Dark Souls 2(Scholar of the First Sin) again, really does put into perspective how hard the Bloodborne bosses are. The other Souls games ease you into the game with a couple of easy boss fights but every Bloodborne boss is actually very capable of killing you easily.

Not that I'm complaining, I actually kinda prefer it this way.

The fights are just way more intense. I live and die by the Parry/Visceral for most bosses. The thrill of standing my ground and trying to time the parry is great. Plus despite your build you have to get inside one way or another. You had many ranged options in the Souls Series.

I definitely think Bloodborne is harder than the other games.

I've done SL1 and SL4 runs in DS1 but the waste of skin SL4 run in Bloodborne is wrecking me. The first five bosses were fine but I'm stuck at Shadows, Paarl and Amygdala. All three bosses kill you in two hits and it's just so hard to avoid getting hit in this game.

Even the Witches took me like 20 tries because of that stupid grab attack.

I've always considered myself a slightly above-average souls player but people that can do a SL4 run in Bloodborne are on a whole different level. It's not only the skill required but the immense patience it must take to fight a boss over and over, whittling away and basically needing to be flawless.

I remember some of the epic Dark Souls playthroughs people had doing NG+7 SL1 runs. Guys are crazy.
