Church Pick was my fav. That weapon is just absolutely brutal. Second and third place go to Moonlight Sword and Chikage.

Never tried the Pizza Cutter properly so there is another playthrough on the horizon.

50 Str and 30-35 stamina. Everything dies :)

Pizza cutter with rapid poison gems is ridiculous. Hold l2 and win against anything.

Killed Ludwig first try only to get repeatedly beat down by the 2 NPC Hunters after him lol
Those dlc hunters are pretty tough but they drop half decent gems. Not the best but good enough to farm them for a while if you're bored.

edit - lol sorry I was talking the hunters at the beginning. I don't remember what those two after Ludwig drop.

Yeah, BluePoint really fucked up the tone of Demon's Souls. I hope it comes to PC so modders can correct their botches.

BB is a bit easier to remaster though, as it doesn't require a major upgrade, just 60 FPS (or higher) and a resolution bump. I'm sure Sony will want it running in 4k though, so if BluePoint is doing it I expect them to redo a bunch of textures/character models and shit all over them.

@My Spot For the PS5 60 FPS/1080p hack, can it still be played online?
Idk, I just don't trust them with FromSoft titles, or any titles that rely on the atmosphere as an important piece of the gaming experience.
Bluepoint sucks?

Is this a shared sentiment lol
I find that hardcore fans of the games they remaster tend to not like them, but folks who haven't played the original title or had little playtime with them usually have a favorable opinion. That's just speaking from my personal experience though

On a more positive note, Bloodborne remains one of my favorite games of all time and has so much fun packed inside. It was my first FromSoft game (I think lol, maybe DS3) so I have a lot of fond memories of learning this with my best friend and taking my first journey of 'gitting gud'. There will probably be a soulslike that eclipses this one day, or maybe it's out and I haven't played it yet. But just like God Hand, it will always have a special place in my heart

They did a great job with the gameplay, but that's where their focus was, which is the big issue. The graphics are gorgeous, but they have no soul, mind the pun lol

Gameplay was their sole priority on staying true to the OG, which their director said as much.

Gameplay in Soulsborne games is a pillar behind From Soft's success, but equally important is the art direction/environmental storytelling. They don't have lengthy cinematic cut scenes, or exposition heavy dialogue from their NPC's. We rely on item descriptions and world building/architecture to understand the stories. The environmental details From Soft employs to inform the player is staggering.

I'll give you two examples I can recall off the top of my head. The fat guy who taunts you in Boletarian Palace always has an evil shit eating grin (might be a mask). This goes on and on, as you leads you into traps. In the remake, they just made him a boiled face villain, no shit eating grin. it's a completely different vibe.

The worst I can recollect is Latria, my fav level in the OG. It was hauntingly oppressive. All you hear at first are bugs and the guy screaming in pain, along with the bells from the jailers. It gave me chills. In the remake, you only really hear the singing from the noble merchant lady (bells too), but it's an uplifting melody. You only heard her sing brief notes in the OG once you got to certain point.

They changed a lot of music too, made it feel generic.

There are so many examples of them not getting the atmosphere of the OG.

If you never played the original, I can understand dismissing this criticism. I loved their remake of Shadow of the Colossus, but I never finished the original, and couldn't tell you if it was completely true to it.

I only played Demon Souls to completion about 3 years before playing the remake, maybe less, so it was still fresh in my mind.

I always have to kite one downstairs then kill the other after.

As far as the discussion of favorite weapons goes, mine would be Simon's Bowblade.

Also, best OST in any FromSoft title

SBB boasts Gucci-grade fashion. You feel like a badass vampire hunter of old while also no stranger to high-society charity events populated by women both single and ready to mingle.

I enjoyed DeSR but this was a great post, bud. Astute take. Thanks for the read.

Agreed, the details in a FromSoft game are crucial. They truly matter. I think Bluepoint is a very competent team and they've done some amazing work, like the SoTC as you mentioned. I think they would be very well served to remake other kinds of games.
This guy touches on some of the things you've mentioned as well. Good video.

They got it running on pc with an unlocked framerate. Just a few weeks ago they got the menu to load but nothing else, then a few days ago the starting area but it was at like 10 fps. It's still early days but their progress is starting to get scary.

Its also through a relatively new PS4 emulator too
