PlayStation Bloodborne Megathread, v.4

Hah, another vid said to dodge to her right.

Anyway, I got past her. I died again, but so did she. Hilarious.

Now Iam running around cathedral ward, not knowing where the fuck to go.
What weapon are you using? For fucks sake it better not be the cane.

@TrueBias just play the game. Explore and experiment. No need to constantly ask questions etc. Bloodborne isnt fun when youre just asking whats the best way to do something, or what does something do. Read the descriptions of items and explore.
I admit, in the beginning, i was asking a lot. Now though, after dying to that blood wrentched cunt, im rdy to get some answers.

Another poster above said to just basically get gud, but i like using the game for all its details. Unfortunately, the drawback of ZERO explanation to the items means i dont use them until after i either beat the game or get past a point where i wouldnt use items exclusively otherwise.

I mean, if im struggling, but i have things in my inventory that i can use legitimately, but dont, simply because i dont know about them, then...its wasted details, no?

Thats the thing, you can read about the items in the descriptions. Some items may still be weird or hard to understand, in which case, I can understand why'd you ask.....but its always better to finish up and then search up everything.

I saw someone recommend an arcane build to you, and thats insane to me. Especially on a first playthrough, since arcane requires some late game stuff to be effective aswell as only levelling up certain requirements. Its not a first playthrough build. Those builds are viable for NG+ etc since you know about the game, and would probably research after the game is finished.

The journey is the game, go through it and experience it. Youre meant to feel lost in metroidvanias, youre meant to memorise routes and backtrack, and explore. Treat BB as a 3D metroidvania.

Question. If I can get gud at this can I get gud at Demon’s Souls? I'd really like to play both but have never faired well in these games

Really? I was listening to podcast with a couple guys who love Bloodborne saying Demons was unfairly difficult in some ways.
Sure, it is in some ways but Demons was the prototype for the series and Fromsoft have consistently improved gameplay and increased the difficulty since then. Bloodborne also has much faster combat than any of the other Soulsborne games, at least besides Sekiro.

The only way it might somewhat unfair is how every level only has bonfires at the boss arenas, making boss run backs a bit of a pain. Though it evens out because you can carry a ridiculous amount of healing items that are very easy to farm and bosses are all quite easy.

The game is just mediocre compared to Dark Souls and Bloodborne imo, they didn't perfect their design until DS1. If you can beat Bloodborne, Demon's Souls should be a breeze.

Interesting. I guess I'll maybe give BB one more go and if I can get into it I'll pick up DS on the cheap.

This is way harder than Demons.
Fuck, is it? And im trucking along, slowly but surely.

Ive gotten ludwigs sword and went to my first dungeon. Trying to kill the undead giant now.

The pause thing for me is almost a deal breaker at this point. My life is too crazy. As much as I’d love to block out everything consistently enough to complete games without interruption, that’s not my life. I can’t tell my SO to shove it or hang on if they need help with something. My dog can’t wait to pee. If I have to go to the bathroom I shouldn’t have to take myself to a strategically safe place. It’s just totally stupid.

Lol, the Soulsborne series are pretty much my favourite games, but I feel you on the pause issue. Going back to Demon’s Souks and Dark Souls 1 on ps3 back in 2011 my wife hates, HATES these games because she’ll be trying to get me to help her with something and I’ll just be like “hang on babe! It’s not safe here!”

To this day she’ll walk in the room while I’m playing and just groan and roll her eyes if I’m playing these games.

This 100%

I def searched for help on certain bosses in various Souls games, or when I couldn't progress because I didn't know where to go. My time is limited, but try to do as much on your own as possible. Discovery is one of the best aspects of these games.

Every item you pick up, read its description

When you finish the game, then read up on more things to better understand what the fuck just happened. There's so much to the lore/story than you can imagine.

Put that shit to good use on your second play-through. You keep all your weapons/stats and a bunch of other things. Wrecking Gasciogne and the Cleric Beast is almost as good as sex lol

Sweet revenge in these games is what keeps me coming back, and the cool atmosphere/lore/tight gameplay of course.

This cocksucker in Dark Souls 3 is the reason I downloaded OBS, just to record my payback on him. He killed me at least 30 times in my first playthrough, I was under powered sure, but I just had troubles with him for some reason. He still did some damage, but he went down my first attempt lol.

You'll be so much better by the end that you could easily start a new character and explore a new build. That's what I did for the 3rd play-though.

I just killed the bitch whom turned into a dog with a blindfold. 2nd try too. Blood starved beast was much harder.

Done some dungeon bosses too, with the last one being some lava dog. Now....I again dont know where to go.

Dungeons offer nothing in terms of furthering the game along. They’re a side element that can have some cool rewards.

It's nothing compared to Sekiro.

Having said that it can be very frustrating if you don't know the dance, and the game won't teach it to you, and it doesn't even tell you you're supposed to be dancing. Bloodborne is an absolute dance

Just killed the darkbeast paarl. There was a hunters bell nearby and since i had 28 insights, i thought, fuck it, join in.

What kind of bonuses are in there?

There’s a couple of weapons but the highlight for most people are powerful gems.

If you’ve beaten Blood Starved Beast and Dark Beast Paarl then it should be smooth sailing for a while. Cleric Beast and the two of them are usually the bosses I personally struggle with the most.

If you want the easiest boss of the game you can go to Hemwick Charnle Lane and fight the Witches of Hemwick. Total fucking jobber.
