PlayStation Bloodborne Megathread, v.4

I can’t beat this fucking Cleric Beast because I’m all out of blood vials and when I farm I’m only getting like 2 of them. Getting absolutely destroyed and I really don’t want to give up.
Probably that hardest shit ever faced I know I suck though. Should I have picked the axe or over the cleaver? I fortified clever and found hunter gear and still dying to the beast.

He is weak to molitov cocktails and fire.
also Cleric beast is actually an optional boss. you could always progress the game and come back to him later

Nice , ya I learned how to run away from fuckers you don’t have to fight. Trying to just learn on my own without watching YouTube videos. Shit is absolutely brutal. Mobbed by a giant rat in the sewers. But am I ok with with cleaver , should I have picked the axe ? I’m having a hard time doing charges hit with lock on and everything but my rolling and dashing is getting better.

Personally I started with the cleaver at the end of the day this game is all about timing. learn to Parry it will save your life

I played years ago. I gave up pretty early on. I stopped at the blood beast or something. Father Gascoigne was 23 - 1 vs me. Felt good beating him finally. Just wasn't my jam but it's so great looking of a game

Honestly, I'm thinking you should switch to hunter axe after reading and getting a better feel for where you're comfortable and not. Big picture, WPNs in Bb live and die on the builds (and playstyles) featuring them. Cleaver is actually a serrated DPS starlet but the two-hand, charged R2 plus sweet rally of axe are things that give you options as well as survivability where cleaver does not. I'm seriously impressed with your cautiously revisiting your right-hand tools because upgrades in Yharnam don't come cheap; to say, you really need pick your scalpel when getting surgical in this bitch. *Paging Dr Drumz

My first ever playthrough was with that weapon, its a great beginner weapon, and if you get the timing and distance down with the R2 charge, you can 'spin to win' against nearly all enemies.

Its too slow on subsequent playthroughs where I feel when you learn the game, the serrated weapon is way OP with fire and bolt paper.

Also dont feel discouraged, the beginning of the game is the hardest portion of the game, and pretty much any other From game.

I started playing Bloodborne properly today and managed to take down the fucker. I've watched a lot of Bloodborne videos over the years i had a rough idea of what to expect.

It was far from a perfect fight by any means but one tip i did pick up was to use charge attacks and to try and hit the same spot if possible which can stun the beast. The easiest tell i picked up on fairly quickly was to dodge through it's right hand swipe and then immediately dodge again to avoid the back hand. Molotovs do some decent damage as well.

Locking on to some of the enemies can make the camera go autistic so try without locking on as well.

I'm using the cleaver at the moment due to the serrated damage vs the beast enemies. It's also a pretty balanced weapon in terms of speed, damage and range.

Cleaver is the best weapon in the game. Fast and hard hitting. You're probably over thinking this fight as you can beat this thing by spamming r1 easily. Also fight it without locking on. The camera can be your worst enemy in this game.

@TribalDrumz also armor is mostly for aesthetics. The defense increase is largely negligible unless it's to an element or ailment such as poison resistance or lightning resistance.

What people's stat suggestions for a balanced build that can make most weapons work?

You can avoid him, but he's a great lesson in dodging (essential to master), just like father Gascione is a lesson for parrying (using your gun). You can also use the oil things to burn him, another lesson, but for using items. I didn't know Cleric was optional, prob died 20 times to him, if not more.

Anyway, move on if you want then come back with more vials. Def go back sooner than later, will help with bosses later on. In my NG+ run, I took great pleasure in wrecking him.

I can’t beat the fucker… I got him down to like 30% and I got nervous trying to staying alive and clipped me down … was such a huge letdown because I farmed for at least 10 molotovs and I missed him with a few ! I was only able to stun his ass twice with bullets .

I don’t mind fighting him it’s the farming for blood vials and cocktails that’s beyond brutal.
Thanks for the tips though! I don’t think I’m giving up quite yet .

Don't give up. The farming was the shittiest part of the game but eventually you can buy vials at the bath vendor in the dream and that's usually the route people go. Watch some videos for strats if need be.

Don't panic/stay calm. It's easier said of course, but that's what gets you.

I do hate the vial system though, much preferring Dark Souls flasks, where you are given a certain amount and never worrying about grinding for health anything.

What's worse in BB is the long loading between levels whenever you want to farm souls to buy vials, or level skills. Bring on the PC/PS5 remaster asap plz!

I found something more annoying than Farron Swamp.....Father Gascoigne's shotgun.
