Blaydes is a pretty rough fight for Jon.....

Jones has historically struggled with guys who are near his height and reach, barring the second Gustafsson fight. Blaydes fits that bill, and is naturally the heavier man. Add in Blaydes wrestling, as well as the fact that he's probably a much harder hitter, and I agree that he's an unfavorable matchup for Jones.

Who are the other fighters Jones 'struggled' with?

Bonnar, OSP, Smith? Vera?

Gustaffson got taken down and smashed FYI?

Am I the only one that thinks this? You think Blaydes is standing with him for any significant amount of time? I'd say no. Surprised this is the fight they are gonna do if Francis is out

Gonna try to put Jones on his back the whole time and Jon might get tired quicker with the extra weight on him. And Blaydes has pretty good GNP

Not a super easy fight for him imo and it's not like Jon is Joe Louis in terms of power to change the fight with one shot.

We shall see I guess. Maybe I am wrong

A couple of people have made this exact thread over the past 12 months, so no - you're not the only ones who thinks this and you might be right.

Blaydes is the token wrestler of the HW division and the only guys who have been able to stop him are those with ridiculous power that Jon Jones doesn't have.

Jones is washed up and can't use steroids. A lot of guys are tough match ups for him at this stage of his career. If he's smart he will stay retired.

Why do you think he can't use steroids? USADA gave him a pulsing free pass.

1. First Gustafsson fight

2. Dominick Reyes

3. Thiago Santos

There's an argument that at least 1 of those fights should be a loss on his record- but all were razor-thin close and, coincidentally, all of them matched his frame.

With Bonnar, OSP, Smith... he didn't struggle at all against them but he did go to a decision with them when he almost always finishes opponents with MW frames (Machida, Shogun, Sonnen, etc.)

His legacy is already tarnished because of steroids.

Most people rank GSP or Khabib's legacies over his and it drives him nuts.

On top of all that he's an addict for positive attention and success.

He's 35 and needs more millions in his bank account and it's his last window to secure that.

Probably coming back in 2023.

Might just pull a whammy on us and do it at LHW because he's terrified of HW division.

I think Blades is one of the easier top 5 guys tbh. Think Jon picks him apart pretty easily. Sure he could get caught. Can't see Blades holding him down for multiple rounds, dude gassed hard AF against Volkov. I think Gane out Jones Jon and Francis makes him curl up in a ball like Chuck Tito 1.

Can't wait to see Blaydes fight, contender of the year!

Said no one ever.

I mentioned the second Gustafsson fight, in the first, it was really the first time Jones looked beatable. Perhaps "struggled" is too strong a term, but he had difficulties with Gustafsson I and Reyes, neither of whom has shown to be dominant since those fights. The size factor doesn't apply with Santos, but that also doesn't point to Jones being able to handle Blaydes.

Jon Jones is waiting to go to another promotion. Why risk bad losses against these savages? When he retired because he foreseen what was coming

I think Blades beats Jon on the feet and on the mat. Blades striking is very underrated. Dude was piecing up Black Beast like it was nothing before the hail mary shot from beast. The ko would never happen with Jon unless it is a kick.

Who is Joe Louis? Can he stop the double leg?

IF Jones does come back at hw, he is either fighting Miocic or Francis. Hes smart enough to know that much

I think their wrestling will cancel eachother out....i mean lets not act like Jon also isnt capable of putting Curtis on his ass and smashing his head with elbows or getting a sub on the ground....i know this place hates Jon and rightfully so but curtis isnt the only one capable of taking this fight to the mat.
