Black Friday Scum

I just need to hear from some other black friday haters. Just the mere aspect of how desperate and pathetic these people shopping on black friday are behaving makes me sick and i need to hear from some other people who agree. I honestly think that the government needs to intervene because these people are acting like mindless sheep and the excessive lengths they're going to get their precious products is truly sick.

Go figure i'm posting this on a mma website where we're assumingly huge fans of watching people beat other people up for a living.

I could go on an on about how fucked up i think this whole black friday frenzy has become, but at the core of it, i think it's truly a sad statement of the current mindset of america and i despise it. Consumer greed at it's worst. People acting like ravenous savages who normally are calm people become violent and go to great lengths just to get the "newest stuff" that advertisers convince their small minds that they just have to have.

Chime in Shermerica cause i love my country but i loathe this behavior. It truly makes me sick to my soul. Humans are better than this. Or are we?

I think some of your assumptions are wrong. I believe human beings have proven to fairly violent aggressive species. However, I think consumerism is something relatively new and being obsessed with material things has just continued to grow since the industrial revolution. Sure human beings have probably always craved more "stuff" but I really think we are starting to become truly defined by what we can buy. Materialism is at an all time high. America in particular has this to a fault IMO.
-We value results way more than motivation/intention
-We are obsessed with acquiring things (*newest gadget, sun glasses, jackets, cars etc.)
-We are only concerned with what directly affects our lives
-We live in a sound bite society
-We have zero ability to delay gratification

Basically the wider "American culture/society" is pathetic.

for any extras used during The Walking Dead, having them watch Black Friday crowd behavior should be required viewing to get into character. The out stretched arms, lunging, mindlessness, aggressiveness, moans and grunts. The only thing separating zombies from shoppers is the make up.

Black friday at my walmart was organized, they had lines in the food section aisles with diff items you wanted and had to buy a bracelet. There was no pallets of tvs...I don't know which walmart did that but that was asking for trouble. In the garden section they had the bracelets for the xbox one and ps4, again they had lines set up so there was no trampling.

that's a relief. i'm most concerned about people getting hurt. although some of these sheeple's death could thin the herd in a good way.

There were two cops at my walmart, it was uneventful because it was so organized, I could of easily got a xbox or ps4 with no issues...they had all the video games in open displays and there were plenty of copies in the meat section...they really used the store in a good way so there was no bullshit...wait in line and show your bracelet and they handed you the item.

Lol, either you're joking or you're not familiar with The Daily Currant.

In case anyone else falls for it: http://dailycurrant.com/about/

This morning in my marketing class a girl brought this story up. She totally believed it, so everyone else in the class thinks it really happened. I knew it was satire, but I did not want to be a dick and call her out in the front of the class.

It's disturbing that people would rather wait in line for a deal than spend time with their families that night. Black Friday really ruins the point of Thanksgiving.

One day, we give thanks for what we have.
The next day....people literally kill each other for a cheaper TV.

Really boggles my mind.

apparently sales were down at the retailers. Perhaps some people are finally getting the message to stay home and be safe. Naturally, this leaves only the desperate and crazier ones left in the lines, which is why get those spectacles we see on youtube. Hopefully every year, more and more stay home and utilize the many other cost saving alternatives, and ofcourse spend some time with the folks.

I went to Office Depot on Thanksgiving night. They opened at 8. Everyone was orderly and friendly. I walked out at 8:12 with 2 Kindle Fires for my kids, saving a solid $150 - $200 plus in the process. Some people get crazy with with Black Friday shopping into a competitive contact sport, but the majority of people just want to purchase Christmas presents for their loved ones at a discounted price and get the hell home.

I can't even imagine being in a black friday type sale in Germany. I was stationed in Germany for 3.5 years, and them cats are the rudest people i've ever seen in terms of crowds. The concept of lines/ques are like foreign to them. If you're not asshole to bellybutton with the person in front of you, you're getting cut. People routinely walk right in front of you, cutting you off.

I remember one time, I was line at a mall to buy a pretzel or some type of brotchen. I was standing literally like 9" from the counter, ready to order. This german older couple saw me standing there, and the dude cut into that little gap and proceeding to box me out like he was Nowitzki. It was so infuriating it was actually hilarious.

My wife and I went to Cologne for the xmas markets, gluhwein all that. Bad idea. The whole marketplace was crowded like a Tokyo subway and cats were pushing us to the side, cutting us off. I could see and hear British tourists getting pissed at it too. I would just look the rude cats straight in the face and say 'thats how we do it?' and they'd look at me like I was crazy.

I loved Germany, but hated that aspect of their society (that and everything being closed on Sundays). All that being said, they aren't beating people up and shooting them at Walmart though. Low class americans gonna low class i guess.

I love watching people forsake their humanity for 30% off.

I shopped from home today. Waiting in line and camping out in front of stores is amateur shit.
