About fucking time, IMO. It's better than the other trend we're being plagued with, the "competition is evil," give-every-kid-a-fucking-soccer-trophy-even-if-they-lose-wait-there's-no-such-thing-as-losing phenomenon. I'd rather we tear each other's throats out over a pair of Spongebob pajamas then tell kids that getting massacred on the field is a praiseworthy performance.
I get torn apart every time I suggest that money or capitalism could be a good thing.
The problem I have with things like Black Friday (and the commentary around them) is the recent idea that no one should be allowed to judge anyone else, not even based on their actions. Seems like if you want to curb mindless, 1980s style capitalism then judging these feral 'shoppers' is exactly what we ought to be doing.
