Black Friday Scum

The people that usually bitch and complain about black friday are basing it off of the .0000001% of occurances that make the news... in the last few years ive not even seen anything out of hand, just long lines and crowded aisles. Apparently there is a website that tallies the deaths, 4 deaths and 74 injuries... out of 10's of millions of customers and tens of thousands of stores is miniscule.

People like to save money/get things right when they come out. For some people they would rather wait around in line for 12 hours instead of wasting time at their house or sleeping so they can get some sort of technology now instead of a couple weeks from now. I wouldn't do it, but I don't think it has anything to do with mental illness.
 
Materialistic feeding frenzy. It's quite pathetic and sad IMO. I've never participated simply because I don't give a shit about material items enough to chase sails, but I did search out some vids just to see what it was like out there.


It's ugly.

I realize this may not be the norm but still..wtf people.

I hate BF because it just a bunch of morons being mass manipulated into behaving like raving lunatics just so they can buy a bunch of useless crap with money they don't even have to begin with. It doesn't have to be violent and wild to still be ridiculous and pathetic.

The sad part is that these people seem to be completely unaware of how much they have been manipulated and continue to put themselves and their families in massive debt for material crap they don't need. Instead of being together as a family and giving thanks for the things you are blessed to have, these mindless idiots are standing in line outside a box store for 6 hrs so they can buy useless crap that will break after 6 months.

TS is catching some hate but I generally agree with him. The winter holidays are supposed to be about family and good feels and the lerd Jesus but the omnipresent 'Murican marketing machine has somehow managed to hijack all that and turn it into some kind of adversarial competition based on hollow materialism just to inflate corporate Q4 earnings heading into the new fiscal year.

i agree with TS. black friday shows just how stupid the american public is. zombies trampling eachother, displays, store employees to buy the past seasons most shittiest model for about $20-50, at the very most, below what it will be now priced due to it being a past season. wake up ppl, they just put this shit on sale so when we buy it we can then go and buy the full priced accessories that go with your new purchase, in which all these stores are hoping you do because their accessories are like 400% marked up. they also sell these things so cheap because no1 wants old shit and no1 will pay full price for a past seasons item.

not to mention waking up at retarded times to get there, standing hours in line in the cold, and actually arguing with others. 2k ppl in line for 1 item in which they only have a quantity of 20 in stock.

About fucking time, IMO. It's better than the other trend we're being plagued with, the "competition is evil," give-every-kid-a-fucking-soccer-trophy-even-if-they-lose-wait-there's-no-such-thing-as-losing phenomenon. I'd rather we tear each other's throats out over a pair of Spongebob pajamas then tell kids that getting massacred on the field is a praiseworthy performance.

Yeah but it's not legitimate capitalism imo. It's a bubble that comes at the end of every year where people buy imported shit they don't need on cheap credit only to saddle themselves with additional debt heading into the new year. And we wonder why private household debt and our Current Account deficit continue to climb year after year...

Wow. You are right about the issue of "everyone is a winner" but advocating this type of silly behavior instead is just as ridiculous. Why does it have to be one extreme or the other? Why no happy medium?

It wasn't meant to be an insult, but just because you use a tv as computer monitor doesn't mean that you have a computer monitor.

Well, both extremes of human behavior have always existed, and will continue forever. If I was able to curbstomp one of them, and one only, I'd choose the pussification.
 
I've been able to get games I've missed out on for cheap at walmart with no issues since they always have big displays for games and have plenty in stock...black friday is good for gamers.
 
I never go shopping on black Friday. If I need like a TV or something, I just wait until they have a deal where I can pay it off over two years with zero interest or something like that. Great deals exist all year 'round. You just have to look for them.

Well, when you put it that way:)I completely agree with you. I just feel that issues are always pushed into either extreme and there is never an attempt to find a happy medium. There is always a middle ground and very rarely do people ever consider that. It is automatically one extreme end of the spectrum or the other.

It drives me nuts that people think like this.

These two videos are exactly what i'm talking about in my original post here. How can anyone possibly justify behavior like that? How for fuck's sake can you defend people acting like such savages for the newest "stuff."
