BJ's Clinic on Pulver

do you guys notice that 90% of the time, there is an 'eddie bravo' thread on the first page 100% of the time?

Wait, going for an armbar from backmount and transitioning to a triangle after being swept are Eddie Bravo techniques? That was straight up everyman's jiu jitsu. Basic but smoothly executed techniques and transitions.

i don't understand, are you talking about a rocket ship to internal combustion to spin cycle transition?

Not surprising since 90% of the posters are Eddie Bravo. I know for a fact that Hayliks, Aesopian, Guardpasser, and Ybot are all Eddie Bravo. I'm Joe Rogan, though.

hahaha my all time favorite quote on the sherdog was this one guy said:

"did you hear eddie bravo tapped helio at a adcc concert"

i dont think bj had the armbar the first time. i do think he was toying with jens a bit, but he didnt have the armbar. jens' arm wasnt at the right angle and he was slipping out, thats why bj let it go so easily. part of being as good as he is is knowing when to move on to another move.

I honestly think Bj Penn started toying with Pulver. He had him in the armbar, when Pulver sort of got out, he could have easily stuck with it and got it. I really think he let it go to change techniques to toy with him.

Without a doubt BJ was toying with Pulver on the ground. He let him out of that armbar. BJ put a JJ schooling on Pulver. Pulver in the interview admitted that he was owned on the ground by BJ.

i think you guys are jumping on the threadstarter a little much I think he was just saying the technique was similar or the only way he'd seen it instructed and just wanted conformation - but i do agree with the overall feel of this thread

- on a side note bjs halfguard/half butterfly guard passing to mount is his bread and butter I'm starting to dig the low base in halfguard after seeing bj and monson use it effectively

Am I right that BJ's swim move from the back to the arm bar position and then to triangle was textbook Eddie Bravo technique? What do you guys make of that sequence? Would he have been better off trying to take Pulver's back there?

hell no and no

Thanks. I appreciate this. It so happens I'm a white belt at 10th Planet and we had been drilling that exact sequence, including the switch from arm bar to triangle, all last week. It is also in his book, and I hadn't seen it anywhere else, or really even seen that sequence in an MMA bout before. I don't really think my point was all that outrageous.

Thats funny, I was showing that last week too, LOL. I told my guys that I got it from the Camerillo Bros, the "Arm Bar Hunters".

np man people are just harsh here because of all the love for eddie bravo and its understandable but people gotta not jump on people for little stuff on a completely unrelated note the marcelo garcia gi series has the best sweeps ive ever seen - i just saw the coolest butterfly sweep with a foward roll

Ive experienced his problem first hand... Other day a kid asked me to show him the choke i had been using to choke him.. I said sure its called the Brabo, and i proceeded to show him.

Later that night the same kid asked Aesopian, "Hey show me that Eddie Bravo choke Trog was talking about"

Eddie bravo is taking over

This thread is hilarious!
I like the BJJ - Bravo JuiJitsu!

I also think that Penn was toying with Pulver - he could have taken the neck much sooner than he did, but I'm pretty sure he wanted to brutalise him. And he held on to the choke for a LONG time after the tap!
