BJJ vs karate: Jiu-Jitsu Match

If you were around my weight class I would say a majority of the time I would escape a headlock from either

A. You becoming tired
B. Me moving to a dominate position until you abandon it and go for something else
C. I move to a dominate position and force the release and take the arm bar

..why would I say that? Cuz I don't know anybody thats a blue belt or higher that would ever go for a headlock (meaning the traditional head lock most guys on the street go for) So that means there is a good chance your a guy around my weight class and your a white belt.

Is it possible if your really strong to tap me with a headlock? Of course..is it likely? Not in a majority of cases. I've had a guy that was 220 lbs put me in a head lock for 5 minuets while he laid on me and I just kept calm, kept my head turned the right way and eventually he got tired, I slipped out and took his back and choked him..did it suck? Yes...did it attack my wind pipe? NO...did it attack my carotid arteries not really..maybe on one side. I have no Idea who you are..you could be a black belt guy thats Brock Lessnars size for all I know. So I wouldn't "Bet" without knowing more about you...but you can Come to Draculino's and try anytime for free. If you know a headlock that works I'd be happy to learn it.

YouTube - Kesa-Gatame

Maybe..But i'm pretty flexible and we practice escapes from that pretty regularly...When I bring my legs up around your head there is an arm bar I get pretty consistently. All you do is cross face to create space, bring your leg up then its my legs against your grip and neck muscles....my legs usually win.

well, this is my fav submission and I don't know how you can bring your legs up around my head if I'd keep it low enough to avoid it and crank you at the same time...

Well, Kesa itself isn't a submission (at least IMO), but there are plenty you can work from there, for sure.

There are many more escapes to Kesa Gatame than relying on the guy allowing you to push his head back, even your worst judoka is going to have his head tucked nice and tight.

You cross face them...In the video you showed me...he didn't even have him in a head lock..but lets say you did...My left forearm would be in your neck....deep pushing your head back....once I got just a little space...my left leg would come up and around your head. I extend my legs and it opens you up for an arm bar. I do it all the time...especially to white belts. "But I would keep my head tucked in tight" Yeah..well I'm not typically careless enough to let myself get put in that position without getting my forearm in your neck. But If I did, there are a number of other escapes. There is even a simple roll from there.

If your my size or at least 180lbs or lower, there is a simple roll you can get from that position as well. Doesn't always work, but it does alot..especially if you do it immediately or after a distraction. Since his right arm is under you, your can roll him on that point and the only thing he can do is sprawl with his head, or try to keep his hips down. If he is an average sized guy..You can roll him over.

Like I said...is it "Possible" to get me with a headlock, Yes...is it likely? No really. Almost definitely not by a white belt with no other training or base.

Actually here..I just found some similar to what I was describing. These typically work with the head lock in place.

whatever man... we can argue here till we die... However, everything is possible including getting you with a headlock by a whitebelt :) cheers

Oh I never denied it...but its not likely...or more accurately..you may get me in a headlock..but your not likely to tap me with it.:icon_chee

I'm not being offensive, but Kesa Gatame being someone's favorite submission, usually means they haven't trained long. Judo side control is neato, but not a submission typically. Although, I have seen one guy using it like a can opener type neck crank to tap people, most anyone who has trained even a little will not tap to something like that.

If a whitebelt, not hundreds of lbs heavier than myself, tapped me with Kesa Gatame I'd suicide myself.

Lol, thats what I' saying. I have no Idea what this cat is talking about. :icon_lol:

I was referring to a neck crank dumbass!

Woah, woah, woah, tuff guy. Slow your roll.

You said..
you have great skills TS. however, your friend had an opportunity to headlock you couple of times

Why would I think you were talking about a "Neck Crank" when your preaching about Headlocks? And to be honest with you...I really don't give a fuck what you were referring to...whats your point of even bringing it up. Are you trying to convince me that you can tap me in some pseudo grappling situation? Its getting a little ridiculous.

I rewatched the video. Your friend had a few chances to twist your nose.
