BJJ Tattoos

Same. 27 years old. Got one tattoo when I was 17, same thing, Tribal shit back in 2000 before everyone and their mom had it. Can't wait to laser it over or cover it. I have a tattoo on my other arm that I love because I actually took the time(2 years) to find what I wanted...pick it out. As opposed to the tribal shit that took 5 minutes to pick....

i was never really into the tribal stuff
i got a cross and jesus' hands since im christian on my right arm
and 3 X's on the back of my left tricep because im straight edge
things i can ink on my arm that i will never change

Unless you're all the sxe kids I knew.... With the exception of 3 of them, they all broke edge.

Got a 6 month white belt at our gym who has gone and got a white belt tattood on his left wrist. Gets each stripe added once he gets them. He's up to 2 now...

i will never break, poison has destroyed my family so ill never let that happen

In general, people surprise themselves as to how far their views can change in a decade or less. Not saying you necessarily won't make it, but nothing's guaranteed in life.

There was this white belt who trained with us for about 4 months who got a BTT Tattoo. Literally, our logo. And i havent seen him train in about, 7 months?

Which is why I'm waiting for my blue. I have no doubts I'll get to it, and beyond, but still, I figure it won't hurt to wait.

Honestly, I'd be tempted to have just a simple Jiujitsu Kanji on my chest. But that makes me look way too much like a GSP/Fitch lover, which is kinda a shame. Was also considering back of the neck, but I suspect that would hurt like a bastard. @_@

...but we'll deal with tattoos after the Black Belt. One step at a time. ^_^

And no, I'd never have an association logo tattoo. Not even Roger's. Simply because in the time I've been here, he's changed it four times. There's being old school, and there's being out of touch. ^_-

Take care,

Oli

I suggest Arte Suave instead of the kanji.

Im pretty set on getting this on the top of my back. Just need to choose a good looking font and the right size for it. Also unrelated to bjj but I wanna get something that symbolize my 2 kids. My gf is getting 2 butterfly (1 blue and 1 pink, boy and girl of course) I think it work very well for a girl but not for me ;) any ideas for that or the font ?

Any tattoos I get will be somewhere covered by everyday clothing. Whether lame or cool my tattoos will be for me.

There is a guy on here who has that Tattoo, except his is now purple at this point.

Let me guess, you're 17 and guzzle Mountain Dew.

I wouldn't go that way with him, I used to be similar (though I never identified as SXE). Then I realized the concept of moderation with drinking, which had essentially blown by many members of my family. When I realized that not everyone acts like a jackass after a few beers like I'd been accustomed to, my views slowly changed, and I find myself happier for it.

That said, again, I wasn't SXE, but in general, I'd never get a political tattoo, or a religious one, because those viewpoints can be changed, and yet are a core part of the person. OTOH, you don't really run into someone that played baseball through college pissed off in his 50's that get got some baseball tattoo, it's still a pleasant reminder of his younger days.

Well, unless they played for the University of Hawaii and got the school logo and team name. What a difference twenty years make.

Perhaps, but that's easily explained, and really, who cares about rainbows any more? I'm sure it's different elsewhere, but where I'm at, you hear someone's gay, and the next question is "So what?" It might give people the impression you're something you're not, but anyone who should matter won't care. Might even make for a funny story.

That said, I doubt a blue octopus is going to be the next symbol of NAMBLA, so when I get that, I think I should be ok :).

Any sort of association tattoos are curses.

Get a spouse's name, you split. Get XXX, you break edge. Get a tattoo of your gym logo and you're at another one in a month. :)

I may do a zombie in a gi. I love zombies and judo/bjj
