Treadmill Incline Walking
~10 minutes

Notes

-No BJJ this morning, I had forgot! Very annoying...so I guess I'll be off BJJ all of this week.

-Just did a few minutes on the treadmill but got bored. Super rainy day again here in New York.

-Couldn't fall asleep last night. Think it was the Super HD so I'll lay off of it. Would have been bad today because there is no place or method to use all that energy this morning.

Made these cinnamon buns yesterday. Came out too dry but still pretty good. Been experimenting with various protein powder recipes. These used Cellucor Cinnamon Swirl.

After no-gi Saturday this chick tried some back attacks on me

Damn, cinnamon rolls look good.

I'd been training about 5 years. Its not that I felt like I deserved it based on my last competition, but the thought process behind it confused me and the attitude of disrespect pissed me off.

-Hardly any sleep last night. Nutrition was in the gutter the past few days and was way over calories. Bounced back today by fasting until 5:30pm and going under maintenance.

Starting modified 5/3/1 again to get back to some semblance of strength...And put on some muscle in the process, gods be good.

Going to begin tomorrow because I am itching to get back to moving some fucking weights. Going to way low ball all of my estimated 1RMs. Nice and easy moving into this phase.

5/3/1 worked really well with intermittent fasting last year and it never STOPPED working I don't think.

-Got the tattoo work done and while the surface area isn't as much as last time, it's still requiring some time off the mat. Hoping to get back in there sometime next week. In the mean time, will just be doing treadmill walking. Finished a Storm of Swords and started Cormack McCarthy's The Road. Pretty depressing and not nearly as enjoyable as Game of Thrones.

A Song of Ice and Fire goes downhill a bit after Storm of Swords. Still the same thing, just less enjoyable. I just started the series for the second time, so I'll see if I like the ending any better this time around.

And The Road isn't bad, and it's fairly short if I remember correctly.

Damnit! I really enjoyed Storm of Swords. It's the only book in the series I've read. Picked it up early in season 3 because it was moving so slowly. The book was way better.

Yeah The Road is a lot shorter. Storm of Swords took me a month to read, and usually I can get through a book in about 8-9 days.

I remember reading the Red Wedding scene while on the treadmill at LA Fitness and having an out-loud freak out. I think I shouted out loud, "What the fuck, no way!"

It's still being written though, isn't it? I though he had like 2 more books to write in the series.

Nice, back to the 5/3/1. You have an ebook or something? I think I lost my copy and I was just thinking about getting on that once I get my rack and weights set up somewhere again. I will just have to start out with an empty bar or something though.lol

Is the modified part the bench? I remember you saying in the past that you had great results with everything but bench on the program.

You are correct, my bro. PM me your e-mail addy and I'll hook you up.

Figured I'd respond to this here rather than spam your new log with book talk.

There are two more being written, which aren't out yet. I read the 5 existing ones in order in about 2 months. It's a lot of reading, and all of it very similar in style and structure, and perhaps that is what I grew tired of. I am not sure that the story gets any less interesting after Storm of Swords, I think maybe I should have taken a break from the series.

A few things that I find most interesting about the series are also what I find most frustrating:

1. There are few truly "good" or "bad" characters; rather, almost all the characters are just somewhere in the grey area in between, with both "good" and "bad" traits. I actually like this about the series, and am not sure why I included it as the first point in a list of things that frustrate me. It gives the characters a more "real" feeling than many books.

2. He kills off every single character you get attached to. Pretty much every character I grew to like in the series, he kills. And the less interesting ones live. It's interesting, but repetitively frustrating.
