bjj in a hot gym

its like 96 degrees in nyc today

100000 percent humidity..

and im pretty sure we dont have AC..just fans and open windows...

i was planning on taking 2 classes after work..but i dunno..

the moment you step out of the shower you begin sweating

I live in Sacramento, CA. Our summers average 90 degrees with 60% humidity. My coach is a native brazillian and has only been here for almost 2 years. so, he loves the summer :)
We turn on the ac when it reaches 100 in the gym, but I know there have been 2 or 3 days where we practiced in 110 degree temps (ac and fans were broken, he asked who still wanted to train). I would never want to make that a normal routine, but those sessions I remember feeling like I was going to die, but had the most incredibly euphoric feeling ever.

No A/C, some ceiling fans and a giant fan at one end. Stay hydrated and it wasn't too bad even with the gi on. I sweat easily and what makes it worse is everyone else is sweating and making the room feel hotter.

it not a question of how hot, its a question of how HUMID because 90 degrees dry heat and 90 degree humid heat are WOLRDS apart

use to train in Asia without A/C

The humid is unbearable, especially within few minutes in, the mat is WET and disgusting

but it was fun.

At my old school, there was a kickboxing class after a gi bjj class. On more than a few occasions, the bjj class would turn the mats into a big slip-n-slide. Hard to do kickboxing on a soaking wet floor.

Yes. There is some air, and we do lots of conditioning.

ultra-lite gi plus huge water bottle with ice in it. so necessary.

I can't even imagine training in 100F, but I'm from Canada so I have an excuse :D
Our gym has AC which I haven't really thought much of, until now.

What i think is worse, is a super cold gym. Used to go to a small Axis gym. Didn't use the heater in winter. So when running or whatever on the mats when we started kinda hurt, from being so cold.

Nowhere near close, i have trained in chilling gyms and i used to swim in under 10C water in winter.

Get as good doubleweave and dont stop moving and its all ok.

More like galaxies, i actually feel cold when a breeze hits me when training at 90.

That's like running a car with and without a radiator.

It was 92 degrees in our gym the other day.

I prefer a hot gym, I like sweating and feeling like I'm doing something. Plus it makes the shower feel that much better.

We don't have A/C or heat in my gym and I agree. Super cold really sucks. The worst is when your toes are super frozen and you stub them or hit them against something. I need to get some wrestling shoes this winter.

I like training hot too; i can't stand training cold. And the older i get the harder training when it's cold gets.
