does any other gyms train bjj in a 90 degree room or d your gyms have air conditioning. im use to training in hot rooms from wrestling but this was just crazy in the gi. there was 4 people that almost threw up and i think 1 did. i mean i dont mind it that much its good for cutting weight and conditioning. im just wondering is there any school out there that dont train at a really hot temp

my gym has a few industrial fans but thats it. Its a big space but we get 20-30 guys training in it regularly so it heats up fast.

Get an ultra lite Gi IMO, my Atama and Vulkan ultra lites have been a God send.

My gym is really hot too, as it is in a basement with no windows or air conditioning. Was really good prep for when I went to Brazil for the first time though. I managed a full training session from day 1 while some other guys from airconditioned gyms took a good week before they could train a full session cause of the heat.

Sweat hard bro its good for you- just make sure to drink lots of water.

During the summer, our gym stays well over 100 degrees (it was a confirmed 101 at the end of May)...it's BRUTAL! I actually hate training in that kinda heat because there is no real physiological advantage to it and it keeps me from being able to train for longer periods of time. I'm all for a good sweat but this is just too much.

I used to train in well A/Ced gyms, but ever since I switched to this new gym that's horribly hot (mainly because their one GIANT fan that would usually cool the whole place down is broken), I've found that my conditioning has improved so, so much. So I'm not complaining :icon_chee

yea, we have 1 fan that blows onto 1 point in the cage.
and since we dont train in the cage, we have nothing.
we get more water breaks though.

My gym (North Carolina in the summer) gets really hot. I actually like it, because I've lived in the tropics and do a lot of hot yoga. Definitely necessary to pay attention to water consumption, though.

We study in a relatively small space , the AC is on, but when there are 12-15 people warming up or rolling, the air gets somewhat warm. Nowhere near 100+ degrees, that would be crazy.

We have fans now, and some holes in the wall to ventilate or whatever. It's still an oven... but not right now. I get to experience the best temperatures at the dojo throughout the year (which are: freezing cold and ball-sweating hot)

I think I'd die if we didn't have Ac.. it gets so hot here.

Its all about humidity, and lol at 90F being hot.

In summer we train at 100F with about 50-70% humidity inside the gym.

We're in an industrial park, so all we have are a few ceiling fans and a big industrial fan.

Normally okay, but yesterday it was 95 degrees out, and a heat advisory. Not the best day to be rollin in a full Gi! I took off the top and went no-gi with a new guy, and I could get NO GRIPS!!!

We don't have high heat strokes getting like 100 out here in Hawaii but its about 80ish most if the year so it gets pretty hot, we get used to it though

Yeah, same story here, 98 degrees in the shade, high humidity. Lovely texas weather. No ac at our plqace.

I feel fortunate to train in San Francisco where it's almost always in the 60s or 70s. The one good thing about training in hot gyms is that you're much more limber and less injury prone. When I did muay thai in VA it was brutal during the summers. Just make sure to drink lots of water throughout the day, not just during class. Also, taking a multivitamin every day is a good way to get potassium and other things that can sweat out.

Neither of my schools have A/C

Judo is worse because they only have 1 crappy fan that is maybe a foot in diameter.
Jiu Jitsu they have barn fans that at least make it tolerable.
