BJJ belts in ur school

Yeah my instructor is very tight with his belts. We don't do the stripe thing but it typically about takes a year to go blue in my school training 2-3 times a week. We don't do the stripe thing as we have no gi training. He does speak a lot about how many schools will just keep giving away belts for free as a business strategy.

My coach hasn't needed to do that yet and I think he would just shut down before giving away unearned belts. Maybe not though, who knows?

we go from white > blue > purple > brown > black





Stripes then you get promoted to blue belt.

I think people wear themselves out trying to get the next belt and a lot of people end up quitting.

You see a lot of people go crazy in the first two years to get blue, that by the time they get blue they're so burnt out they don't make it to purple.

You just have to go in with the mind set to get better everytime you come in to the gym, then the belt will come.

Lol what's up with belts? to get a feel good feedback? I thought the reason why you train is to train not to get hang ups on belt?
