just ask your partners to go no heel hooks/ knee bars
dont shoot too much, or better yet just throw or trip
dont sit back with your knee up to break guard too much, that might strain it
no rubber guard
and lastly dont kick out with the butterfly hooks too much when they try to flatten your butterfly guard, i agitated my knee doing this
This is spot on.
I tore my ACL, LCL, PCL and 1/3rd of my hamstring in my left leg. I was just fine in ju jitsu. I actually could use my "fixed" knee better for gogo's than my "good" knee.
I tore my right ACL in a fight in early May and finally had surgery on it on 8/20. I'll be back in the gym.
You have to take things into account, but it's perfectly fine to train with. With that in mind, everyone is different. If you are perfectly mobile and you're just concerned about what if's, you'll never know until you try.
