BJ' shape in Joe Stevenson fight is amazing

He showed up in this shape against Diego and Diego was my favourite fighter at the time; he was just coming off the crazy fight with Clay Guida and BJ absolutely destroyed him for 5 rounds and I skipped my staff Xmas party to watch that shit man lol.

This was around that same time , before the Kenflo fight I believe, he did look really good but word around the campfire is that he hated the hard physical trading the Maronivich brothers would put him through so he just gave it up
It’s a shame really

I don't think he had a better shape than this in any other fight. He looked like he could keep this pace for trhee rounds

I can't understand why only one year after his physique has declined so much in GSP revenge that was the most important fight of his career

because he's not disciplined that's why. he was with the Marinovichs when he looked like that and vs Diego. then he said something like the training was too brutal and he left the Marinovich's and looked like shit. he got back with the Marinovichs in like 2017 for the Siver fight but by then it was way too late.

Motivation...

i think BJ liked to fight more than he liked to train

Just putting it out there... A nickname such as "The Prodigy" suggests inate or natural abilities, as opposed to "The Carpenter" for example, which suggests that results come from hard work. Maybe BJ was too confuted to be bothered getting jacked?

Bj was so ahead of the game that his earlier career everything came easy. When things caught up he wasn't willing to put in the work to stay with it. Maybe the greatest front runner of all time.

BJ was destroying everyone's favorite fighter in his Prime... and he did it in a brutal and bloody way.

I remember Diego being a complete stud to even make it to the 5th round.

And yes, people forget how dominant Diego Sanchez was in his prime.
Going into that Koscheck fight where it was undefeated VS undefeated, Diego was projected to be future world champ.

It's never really been a secret that BJ didn't love the hardcore training, and ran a lot on natural talent alone.

Imagine if he did have like Khabib level discipline, he would've been unstoppable.

That fight against Joe was absolutely savage though, one of my favorites.

That line works for his career overall and for how amazing he was at the first round of fights compared to the 2nd, or later.

Round 1 Penn busted up GSP, outgrappled Fitch, outstruck Nick Diaz.

He didn’t win any of those fights.

Summ ragdolling.

The difference of skills between Khabib and bums like Diego Sanchez and Joe Stevenson.. bitch please.
yes but we saw that he still gave GSP and Matt Hughes hell and they are legendary world champions in a higher weight class

Prime vs Prime you have to say, it could have been incredible

But...

BJ would have to stop Khabib, or eventually Khabib's pressure would gas him out and you cant win when that happens.
