I don't really see how Bisping is at a crazy style disadvantage. You basically have one of the hardest guys to wrestle ever against one of the best wrestlers ever. The only problem is the wrestler has been out of action for a long time, is coming up in weight for the first time, and had another major knee surgery during that time.

If I gave you a 100 dollars check tied to your favorite betting company to bet for "Bisping win" or "GSP win" what would then pick?

And Georges know this, which makes me question why he chose to go up to 185? Why would he do that when it makes no sense, he is a 170 pound fighter, he isn't built for 185, and yet here we are with Georges insisting he is going to fight bigger fighters. It makes no sense to me if he wanted to make a come back.

B cause he was bored shitless at the end of 170 and wants a challenge and to prove he's the best of all time.

If he dominates his first few fights @ 185 and tries 205 too it's gonna be interesting.

Especially with a fat slow champ @ 205. D.C. Isn't as good as rashad when he was in his prime and George has had plenty of training time vs rashad.

I think he already know s how that fight would go and has gameplanned his comback with perfect timing since he knew Jones couldn't piss clean repeatedly.

My guess is that GSP saw the weakest MW champion in UFC history and decided it was time to come back for an easy win and huge accolades (two weight class champion - etc.).

Maybe you should watch a GSP fight before commenting.

Er, no. No it doesn't.

And Bisping is 38 (older than GSP), has had more fights in his career and more in the UFC, has lost more fights, has permanent eye damage...

I think I see the problem here. You're a GSP hater who would favor just about anyone on the roster over GSP since you're of the opinion that wanting something badly enough will make it happen. I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this, but that's not how the world works.
I think I see the problem here. You are a GSP nut hugger who would blindly favor him against any opponent since you are of the opinion that a four year layoff, two knee surgeries, ring rust, not 1 middleweight fight, etc., will NOT affect GSP's performance. I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this, but that's not how the MMA works.

Pretty pumped for this fight and the card in general is going to be awesome i think Bispi g takes it better boxing and I can't see GSP holding him down 5 rounds

Rockhold is 6'3 but looks more than an inch taller than Bisping.

I wonder which of the two is an incorrect measurement.

Hard to call. Bisping will have some size on him but I don't think it'll make much difference.

Kennedy was able to beat Bisping by taking him down and keeping him down some rounds. Although Kennedy was a pretty huge MW, GSP looks almost as big in that picture. And I never got the feeling Bisping cut a lot of weight for MW. I bet he's no more than 10 pounds more than GSP in the cage.

The 4 inch of height Bisping has on GSP will not be an advantage, since GSP will level change for the takedown. It will only benefit him, akin to how Cormier ragdolled HW and LHW.

The only advantage is the reach advantage, and GSP has the longer reach. JAB, JAB, KICK, KICK, BAM TAKEDOWN

Still good enough to beat Rockhold and Silva.

Hows the style match up favor GSP? Bisping has excellent TDD and solid hands with enough power to hurt Silva/Rockhold so certainly enough to hurt GSP. Bisings weakness has always been striking defense & getting rocked/hurt which shouldn't be much of a problem with GSPs pillow fists.

The style match up favors Bisping heavily.

Only thing GSP really has going for him is he's the better fighter overall. But he's also 3 years retired with a string of injuries.

And bisping weakness only been elite strikers which GSP is not

I don't think GSP will look terribly outsized, if the fight happens. The style match up favors GSP, so whatever he's giving up in size he gets right back due to the style clash, and that's before even considering his skill level. I think GSP takes this fight, but I'm not happy about it.
the problem with gsp is dat dere ring rust.

And 38 year old half-blind Bisping is going to beat him?

Keep hatin'. Your hate changes nothing.

And Bisping has been the most active fighter ever?

If you reach hard enough, you'll get those straws. Someday.

believe me when i tell you that i have saw bisping in person and there is no way in hell he is 6'2, hes not even 6'1. he seemed to be the exact same height as me and that is 6'0 even.the height stat is way exaggerated

Rashad-Evans-And-Michael-Bisping.jpg

rashad evans is listed as 5'11 which is very generous. does he look 3 inches taller than rashad here?

I guess we don't know what shoes were being worn?? LOL but yeah your probably right, goddamn UFC telling me lies. Also who bumped this? I made this thread in march.

I've been a GSP fan since he fought in TKO, so you can eat a dick with all that.
If you think that he is going to walk through Bisping after almost a 5 year layoff and 2 knee surgeriers, while never having a MW fight and after being abducted by aliens every week; then you are as delusional as your man crush.

Rockhold was the worst champion. He got knocked out by Bisping and couldn't even successfully defend once.

Palhares is 5'7 and manhandled most guys he fought at MW. GSP will be fine.

re height and reach advantages, I read the book "Fightnomics" a few years ago.

IF I remember correctly, they found that the statistical advantage related to reach, not height. that is, fighters with the above average reach for their weight division tended to win more often than average. they specifically mentioned that GSP is not tall for WW but that he had an unusually long reach.

of course, their conclusion was not specific to an individual fighter or match up. just that "size matters" and that size is best measured by reach according to actual fight results
