Again, you explicitly said: "nobody who is this tiny fights for a living." You're clearly standing by this statement. Let's be charitable and assume that Floyd (who for close to the first half of his career weighed 140 or below on fight night, and topped out around 150 at his heaviest, which is around what the heaviest MMA FlyWs top out at on fight night) is merely an exception. Throughout the long and storied career of combat sports, little to no one has cared about men who weigh roughly 140 pounds fighting each other which is why, as you confidently said: "nobody who is this tiny fights for a living." You stand by that point, right? So, let's look at a few fighters who should, or should've, struggled to elicit any response from fans and therefore have failed to make a living by fighting:
Julio Cesar Chavez
Roberto Duran
Manny Pacquiao
Erik Morales
Salvador Sanchez
Willie Pep
Sandy Saddler
George Dixon
Vasyl Lomachenko
Wilfredo Gomez
Barry McGuigan
Alexis Arguello
Fighting Harada
Vicente Saldivar
Rueben Olivares
Benny Leonard
Henry Armstrong
It's sad that these men wasted so much of their lives toiling in obscurity, unable to make a living wage. Hopefully MM figures out that he can't make a living by fighting sooner than later so he can avoid the fate of men like this.
Congratulations. You just listed a bunch of boxers. And let’s be clear about this. You may disagree but what I’m about to tell you is 100% true. Boxers are not fighters. They are just boxers. MMA is the sport of actual fighting. You might have great hands. But if I have the ability to take you down and choke u the fuck unconscious it means nothing.
If you are waiting to list some list of legendary guys at 125, you will be dead before that ever happens. Because grappling is such a huge part of this game and virtually nobody and I mean nobody which is a minuscule percentage at best wants any part of that shit. Size will always play a huge part of the sport. You can’t just throw hands. This individual we are arguing about was literally fucking manhandled at 135 by the champion. Did you see that fight? Because he was tossed around like a ragdoll. People that like to claim it was close are rewriting history. It was not close. He was badly out wrestled. That is why he fled the division. That is why he is so scared to fight anybody that even represents the division. That is why he is campaigning for a pathetic payday in no way he deserves so somebody can actually come down to his class and fight him. Who in the history of the sport has ever been campaigning for a huge pay raise so somebody can come down to challenge them for their title? It’s hilarious. This man has basically got used to fighting kindergartners. And now an incredibly huge man who stands all of 5-6 has him shitting his pants. Imagine the shit that GSP would have taken if he stalled the UFC and demanded a huge pay raise when BJ Penn wanted to come up and face him? It doesn’t happen. It’s happening now because he understands he is fighting nobody. And now he has to fight somebody.
