Bisping officially retires from MMA

I liked bisping then hated him, then liked him again. Great career and fighter

LOL. Just because a fighter has fought in the UFC and decided to retire doesn't make them a legend.

MMA fans think that damn near every fighter is a legend

It's all a matter of perspective. I used to constantly discount Bisping, but he just kept coming back, and kept coming back. Eventually he got his chance and KTFO Rockhold for the belt on short notice. He's a legend to me, having really earned my respect over a long career with a lot of ups and downs. He wasn't the best fighter ever, but he was really gritty and worked really hard. When he got his opportunity, he jumped all over it. Who you consider a legend is up to you, but Bisping has 29 fights in the UFC. Tied for most wins in UFC history. Tied for most fights in UFC history. 6:05:33 of Octagon time. Legendary career for someone who I once considered a protected fighter. He really paved the way for modern MMA in the UK.

You need to look at those stats in context. Those "most wins" and "longest octagon time" stats has to do with him going to the scorecards with a lot of middling fighters. He lost the vast majority of the time he took a step up in competition. All he really did to pave the way for modern MMA in the UK was be British (I don't think the landscape would look all that much different without him either tbh)

He was a good fighter who had longevity, and he has a great moment in that upset against Rockhold. We don't think Serra is a legend for his even greater upset, though.

You can think whatever you like as I said. I'm free to do the same. But at the end of the day you're trying to discredit a fighter in his retirement thread. Kind of pathetic really.

Go find something better to do.

He's a dick, but had one hell of a career. His family is cool; I wish him the best. He has earned it.

For me he's the guy who did the most with the least.

Not really, I'm being honest about his career. I said that hes a good fighter and had a great moment in that Rockhold win. Objectively looking at his career isn't discrediting. I'm just not overrating his achievements just because he retired.

You can believe he's a legend if you want, but if Bisping is considered a legend these days I think it's safe to say that that word has lost its meaning.

What he did to Rockhold will always makes him a legend in my eye.<28>

It's certainly the shining moment of a very solid career.

Happy retirement to him. He definitely belongs in the hall of fame. Would have liked to see him vs. Lyoto but it makes sense he got out now.

Good career.

Good villain.

Choked a lot.

Dirty fighter.

Enjoyed watching Hendo and other KO him brutally.

Finally got a top notch win over Rockhold and then proceeded to fuck up the division for too long.

Will probably miss rooting against him. HESPECT.

Michael Bisping, one of the most loved and even more hated men in Sherdog history officially steps away from the cage. If there was a Sherdog wanted list throughout the years, I'm sure his price would have reigned amongst the top for many years. He achieved many accolades, including an amazing run where he beat some of the best Middleweights of all time in Anderson Silva, Luke Rockhold and Dan Henderson, asserting himself as one of those very best and claiming the UFC Championship to become the first ever British World Champion. He will finally fix that eye and look beautiful on the Fox desk. Post your favourite memories post UFC 100 of the Count...

Farewell Bisking.. farewell.

he has unfinished businesses.

Damn. I hoped he would stick around for a fight with Machida. Still a solid career though, even if MW did get fucked up a bit after he won the belt. Hespect.
