Not to seem like a knock on Friday which is a GOAT comedy and is def a masterclass in stoner films but not everything in that film revolves around weed. It starts with it, it is everywhere but there are scenes not involving it

Its not in your face like half baked is but i feel it's still a "stoner movie" in half baked all of Harlands scenes in jail there's no weed, the same when Chappelle is with Mary Jane the woman.

Friday is a guy and his drug dealer friend getting high and selling weed to settle a drug debt by the end of the day.

Half Baked is 3 friends getting high and selling weed to get a friend out of jail.

Its nearly the same premise, smoke weed and sell weed.

I can tell you the last time I watched Friday I was high and I laughed with my sides hurting in pain. I can not recall the last time I watched Half Baked. Because of this thread I feel I need to give it a go and I will.

When I was younger my choice would easily have been Half Baked, now id go Billy Madison as funnier.

I watched Half Baked recently and it just didn't age well for me, I still laugh at Scarface quitting and the randomness but Billy Madison seemed to age better joke wise.

Ok I will concede Friday encompasses it better in the macro sense, while Half Baked does it in the micro.

Food for thought ahead of a rewatch...
In jail there's no weed, but, he ends up there because he was high af when he left to get munchies and of course the entire premise behind the movie is to sell weed to get him out.
When Chappelle is with the girl,
a) her name is... Mary Jane (wink,wink)
b) their main conflict is her finding out his secret weed dealing.

Billy everyone can identify with since we all went through school.

I'm not a burn out so tho its entertaining, billy should be easily better.

For me it's Billy Madison.

Billy Madison for sure. If the question was which main character did you like better than maybe Half Baked but movie wise it's not really close.

Madison also had a really good supporting case both on and off the set (Steve Buscemi, Darren McGavin and Bradley Whitford are award winning actors and Chris Farley/Norm Macdonald are legendary comedians).

Both were absolutely awful. Madison had a few laughs at least. Half Baked is Full Garbage.

I haven’t seen Half Baked in literally just over 25 years. I remember watching it in high school in late 1999. I’m probably due for a rewatch.

Whatever Billy Madison is, Half Baked is less. And I like both
