NoDQ.com > WWE > Billy Gunn reportedly fired by WWE
Posted by Aaron Rift on 11/13/2015 at 12:47 PM

F4WOnline.com reports that Billy Gunn (real name Monty "Kip" Sopp) was fired today as a trainer by WWE due to testing positive for elevated levels of testosterone in a powerlifting meet back on July 25th. Sopp was suspended from powerlifting for four years when a drug test revealed a 37-1 testosterone/epitestosterone ratio, well over the 4-1 limit. People in WWE were apparently not aware that he was competing as a powerlifter until recently.

In addition to his recent television comeback with New Age Outlaws partner Road Dogg, Sopp also appeared as an instructor on Tough Enough and Breaking Ground.

Stay tuned for further updates.

Road Dog will probably be on the outs as well. They're a team, and no one will have an interest in seeing Road Dog as a singles competetor.

Good to see WWE taking steroid use seriously. Their company has been criticized all through the 90's allowing everyone to get roided up. Haven't watched since 2002 but it's good to see.

They don't take it seriously. They use it as a way to get rid of people they want to fire but don't have a legitimate reason to.

In this case, they may not have wanted to fire him, but he tested positive while powerlifting. He's a development coach, and if they didn't fire him, what kind of message would it send?

Neither are active competitors anymore. Road Dogg was acting as a road agent, Billy was a trainer in NXT.

That's one thing that has always made me laugh about how wrestling is in mainstream media, which is why this has been brought in for the most part.

Normally, when nothing is really happening, it's "Pfft, it's pro-wrestling, it's fake, don't even acknowledge it". But when someone's feelings get hurt, or when some horrible shit happens "Oh my god, what is happening, this is a national priority and we must do something about it"

I don't know, I don't watch the shit anymore.

Lmao exactly, like when Faux news was freaking out over the Lana/Rusev/Putin angle.

Ok. I don't watch WWE very often, but I saw them together for a few tag team matches back around WM31.

Isn't he a developmental trainer?

What does it matter that he is juiced?

Yeah. they do a few one shit deals now and then. But, they're retired for all intents and purposes.
