Big Nog's legacy

Nogs wrestling sucks.

How on earth does he get Frank down?
I’m just saying the Cain MMATH is not helpful in determining any outcome between Nog/Ngannou.

The fantasy matchup itself is not something I particularly care about. To me there’s no doubt who has accomplished more in their career thus far.

I don't think he beat Ricco; saw the fight live in Saitama arena, and the crowd was dead quiet through the entire fight. Noguiera couldn't get anything going, Rodriguez shut down his ground game, and even with Pride rules, all the breakdowns and analysis of why they gave the win to Nog, if the crowd says Ricco won, and you could feel he won, then wtf,....

It all evens out in the end,...especially if you didn't deserve the win,...like Nog vs Fedor 2,...big Nog wasn't happy with the cut Fedor got, and wanted the title immediately handed over to him, but Pride refused,...Nog was pissed,...what comes around, goes around.

#2nd best HW ever.

fuck the modern day.

That shit is ASS.

Nog would put anybody today in a triangle

after they GAS.

Not enough respect is shown to this guy who could make a very strong case for #2 heavy weight goat status. Here is a reminder to how great he was for all those cashews who don't put enough respec on his name and think that some ufc flavor of the month hw is better.

Noguiera was more special than what his ufc career would suggest. Check it out, this came out yesterday. The narrators voice might be cringe but he is on point otherwise.

How does he even need an argument for #2? I thought this was an undisputed fact.

At this point Stipe is the clear #2 HW. Nog is still up there, but he is not #2. Honestly I think Werdum might have a stronger case for #3 than Nog.

yea lol...

we agree, frank murders any version of nog

Not really. They were both old. Mir destroyed prime Nog

Fedor was older and further past his prime than Mir was when they fought.

Nog was not in his prime, he was shot by the time he got to the UFC, and he still won the interim title. You just proved you don't know Mma.. stop posting until you get some knowledge.

Nogueira was slow as hell even though he was 240. In my head I picture hypothetical matchups vs other HWT strikers and I see Nogueira getting beat up bad.

He already fought other hw strikers in the past. He finished mirko crocop, and beat Sergei Kharitonov.

Look at wikipedia if thats all your good for, bud.
Just be realistic and not emotional fanboys.
Nogueira is overrated. His victims got there asses kicked by other guys too. Slow plodding and not good enough wrestling to force his bjj.

Ranked # 2 all time HW

Zero case for a Ricco win in that fight. Absolutely not controversial.

Obviously top 5 all-time. His legacy is that he was probably mma's first complete fighter. He'll also be remembered for his legendary Pride run, his durability, his come-from-behind wins, and being the fighter who passed the torch to Fedor.

His UFC run isn't particularly relevant to his legacy IMO; he had already made his mark on the sport and had been competing at/near the top for the better part of a decade.

I’d agree Large Nog is still one of the best heavyweights the sport has seen.
I’d argue that that is a crying shame though. The level of competition in the HW division hasn’t evolved enough. I think the top fighters at all the other weight divisions have surpassed the “all time greats” that came before them. However HW has sort of remained stale. Don’t get me wrong, I love the fights but I haven’t been impressed in quite a while.

The glory and the oppurtunity for it isnt there. Due to alot of factors.

One is that if we had DC,Cain,Stipe,JDS,Ngannou,Cyril Gane,Werdum and a few others, all in their prime at the same time,we really could have had something, but everything is all spaced out,and with injuries, inactivity and the age of some of the fighters when the fights finally occured.

Maybe Stipe,Dc or Cain would have risen above the rest, and been dominant...but there just wasnt an oppurtunity to "out-do" Fedor and nog who were in the shit their whole careers. Taking out the old guard...and the current...
