Media Big John putting some blame on Ref Mark Smith over Yan vs Aljo situation

There could have been a point deduction.

You all are forgetting that this exact situation happened in Jones vs Smith. Smith handled it the correct way. That would be the better alternative.

But that opens the door to throwing illegal shots. If I can knee someone who's down, I don't mind getting a point taken away if I can compromise him to the point where I'll finish him.

Take a point for unintentional illegal shot but you have to DQ if it's deemed intentional no matter the degree of damage.

Did you watch the video? Big Jon wrote the rules, listen to what he says, he is the expert.

Based on what he said, he completely disagreed with how it was handled and kind of agrees with my take.

So you're saying big john is always right? I thought the rules are pretty clear. Throw an illegal strike and you can get dq. Otherwise why wouldn't every champ throw illegal strikes every fight to get a NC and keep their belt?

What part of his reasoning do you dispute?

The part about ruling it a NC or going to scorecard. And big John seems to be implying that because Yan may not know it was an illegal.blow, he should be given some slack.

Yea of course, they're seeing what everyone else saw.

Aljo was acting. It's clear as day. The nuthuggers will ignore this but it's true.

If he knew he would get a no contest instead of a title he would have been back on his feet in 30 seconds.

lol@ nuthugger

I challenge you to find one, ONE, one post I have ever made nuthugging Aljo prior to this fight. to be honest I dont think I ever said anything positive or negative about him in my entire life until this fight.

anything you say is completely and totally irrelevant until you let me knee you in the face when you are already exhausted from 15 minutes of physical activity. if you get up ready to go I will gladly eat my words. what state you live in?

It was an illegal strike. - Yes
It was an intentional strike. - Debatable, Yan may not have known he was throwing an illegal strike, watch the video in the post.
It caused damage that made opponent unable time continue. - Very debatable watch the fucking video in the post.

He was trying to win a fight by acting more hurt than he was to exploit the rules. People watch and support MMA to see who is the better fighter, not who can exploit the rules to get a win without winning a fight. Trying to take a win without besting your opponent at fighting is dishonorable, not fair to your opponent and bad for the sport.

Fighters get hit with hard shots and continue to fight all the time, it's part of the game. Illegal strikes are unavoidable during a fight and happen all the time and only fighters who don't believe they can win in a honest way milk them to get money and accolades they don't deserve.
Yan “not knowing it was an illegal strike” is irrelevant and also inexcusable.

As for your temper tantrum about ethics and what is dishonorable, that also has nothing to do with what the rules are and what the penalties are for breaking the rules.

If Yan was the one who took the illegal knee you just know he would have continued the fight.
