What I believe is Lawler went limp, Askren felt it and loosened him up a slight bit when he saw Herb go down on his knees with a concerned look and then tightened it up again when he felt lawler move a bit more, and Lawler woke up gave the thumbs up but it was too late.

Its a tough call but if a guy revives let him continue, but it was an honest mistake, not the worst call

I think Herb was worried because Askren can snap Lawlers jaw with that strength

The problem is herb checked robbie and didn’t pay attention to his response. And his response confirmed he wasn’t out.

It IS possible Lawler went out then came back real quick. That arm drop is pretty suspect.

This is a tricky situation, one of the trickiest ive seen.

The fact that there are two gifs out there that tell two completely different stories, tells me that this was not a black and white example of a referee making the wrong call. You can not fault the guy for caring about a fighter’s well being. If Robbie had died, the same people hating on Herb right now would be ready to crucify him.

I really don’t know what the right call is on this one. He clearly looks out, but he also looks like he’s all there a moment later. People are not crazy on either side of the argument. Let them fight again. They made over 300k each. Fuck it

I like askren but the reaction to what happened by him and his fanboys is bizarre.
From what we saw the fight was clearly ended prematurely. Robbie gave herb the okay, + he wasn't disorientated on the break even for a millisecond.

You cannot talk about hypotheticals or fabricate a narrative about robbie being out and waking back up. There's simply nothing we can do to prove such a thing.

Get prepared mentally guys because round 2 is happening.

I'm not even an Askren fan but Lawler fanboys are some of the worst.

UFC needs to book Robbie for another fight quickly. It's Robbie's time. I have never seen him look so good, both mentally and especially physically. I'm usually not a big fan of immediate rematches, but would like this one very much. I don't think Askren is a complete mixed martial artist like Robbie is. I find Askren's game very one dimensional. Robbie runs through Ben 9 times out of 10.

No disrespect to Lawler but how exactly is it "His time"?

He turns 37 this week and is 1-3 in his last 4 fights

I would say his time has passed
