That's an insult to Kenny Florian. Kenny earned his title shots.
Wait till Big John finds out that the champion at the time was Woodley. And there's gonna be
people out there saying "well, Colby won the interim". Nope, interim ain't crap. It's just not the same, cause there was somebody else that was actually better, sitting there with the title. It just says
that you're not that guy, to get to that level.
That's an insult to Kenny Florian. Kenny earned his title shots.
Kenny Florian got his 1st title shot against Sherk after only his LW debut against Sam Stout.
He earned his 2nd title shot against BJ fair enough.
He got his 3rd title shot against Aldo off of only his FW debut against Diego Nunes.
How do they prove it? Darren Elkins went the distance with Volkanovski but doesn't make him Championship level. Colby wasn't competitive with Usman. He got his jaw broken and was beaten to a pulp. Usman looked like he finished a light sparring session. Colby touched Usman and Kamaru HIT Colby. When the number of times are similar and you can't see the difference the actual impact and power is making, that is a clear indication you don't know what you are watching. But he is. His fights with Usman prove it. It's just a dumb statement
Beating Woodley and Masvidal to earn respective title shots >>>>>>>>> beating Sam Stout and Diego Nunes in divisional debuts. You're just pointing out how ridiculous Colby's last 2 title shots were.
You're sucking Colby off hard here.
The Woodley he beat was nowhere near the same Woodley Kamaru beat. The Masvidal that Colby beat was an older and more worn (and KO'd) version of the Masvidal Kamaru beat. The Burns win is the prime contender that Covington does not have on his resume because he avoided them like the plague.
We just finally saw Colby get in there with a legitimately elite fighter in Leon and he looked horrible. He was just a good matchup for Kamaru, and people thought Colby was some comparable with the other elites of the division. He's not.
Colby is a career runner-up at best.
So that makes him what, the 3rd or 4th best guy in the division? Colby vs Burns is a contender fight that made sense for the longest time but Colby actively avoided that. Honestly I think Burns beats him.We will have to agree to disagree...
I would still heavily favor Covington over the version of Woodley that Usman beat...
And Edwards, just prior to making Covington look awful, made Usman look awful in there as well. I don't think there is any shame in that loss.
This. He is great regarding everything with Referees and Judges. Everything else he has a very surprising lack of knowledge and is sometimes shockingly dumb in his statements.Big Jon also said Yaroslav was the greatest welterweight in the world.
Soooo.
How can we say he's above the rest when he literally has no wins over anyone in the top10?He lost.. Two times and now against Leon. Unfortunately for Colby, numbers don't lie but truth be told he has three defeats versus champions in his 4 defeats record, so.. We can say he is above the rest.
Colby is WW Poirier or Gaethje.
How can we say he's above the rest when he literally has no wins over anyone in the top10?
Maybe I need to rewatch those fights but I remember it differently. I remember them being competitive, but Usman never seemed in trouble, irrc. It has been awhile, so please don't take offense to this, it is more of a question than the general jackassery that we see on Sherdog lately. Not a fan of Colby these days but you can definitely claim he was championship level briefly given how competitive his fights with Usman were.
