Your picture is cropped to leave out that unlike all other photos of the barrier I’ve seen, that one had a halfway up point where you can stand. That’s obviously a terrible design and I can only imagine it is there for a reason, perhaps a pass through/gate of sorts. Whatever it is, those would obviously be where guards need to be stationed.

Second, I’m a bit dubious of that entire situation. Last I checked illegals don’t typically bring camera crews and reporters to document their crossings. I would be very interested to find out who paid for that. That being said, it wouldn’t surprise me if criminals know where those weak points are. However, it took 3 men to get one over (at least the story I read) and certainly women and children aren’t doing it, so even that flawed area is a good deterrent.

Furthermore, even a big beautiful gold trimmed wall will need electronic monitoring eventually.

The numbers I quoted were from early on, and while they may have risen, you have to keep in mind, humans are quite resourceful. I’ve always stated the most determined will likely be able to cross anything. Which is why they need to be met with other layers of border security, and most importantly laws that kick their asses out. I’m encouraged to see the most recent changes in catch and releas, etc.

On the wall, the Democrats are currently powerless to stop the Republicans other than with frivolous lawsuits. Right now it's the Republicans who are stalling. Trump needs to step up.

I don't believe the wall needs to be completed in order for Trump to be re-elected. I believe he needs to secure funding and start significant construction.

First group from Honduran caravan crosses into Mexico

The U.S. government is now tracking a small group of immigrants from the Honduran migrant caravan who crossed into southern Mexico on Thursday night, a border President Donald Trump made clear he did not want the migrants to cross in order to prevent them from arriving at the U.S. southern border.

The breakaway group crossed over the Succhiate River separating Guatemala and Mexico, according to an internal U.S. document obtained by NBC News. They are soon to be followed by a group of 3,000 migrants who have congregated in Guatemalan border town of Tecun Uman, which is located about 25 miles south of Tapachula, Mexico.

The group of migrants, gathered in the town's central park, were preparing to make a decision by early afternoon about how to enter Mexico. Among the options: cross Tecun Uman's border bridge by foot and face detention or try to make it across the Succhiate River undetected.

"If migration and the federal police do not allow us access, we will do the impossible to cross into Mexico," one of the migrants shouted to the others.

A separate group of roughly 500 migrants are expected to join the others later Friday. Another large caravan of roughly 1,000 Hondurans recently crossed into El Salvador as they make their way north.

In a tweet on Thursday morning, Trump raised pressure on Mexico "to stop this onslaught," adding "if unable to do so I will call up the U.S. Military and CLOSE OUR SOUTHERN BORDER!"

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is traveling to Mexico on Friday to meet with his counterparts, where he will continue to pressure the country to stop migrants from passing through Mexico to the United States.

Their travel patterns could trigger a crackdown on the border by the Trump administration. Senior administration officials say Trump is "dead serious" about taking drastic measures, including sealing the border, but is likely to hold off until after the Nov. 6 midterms. The first wave of the caravan is due to reach the United Stated border just around that time.

That better not be the design. It took me less than a minute to figure out how to easily get over that with nothing more than rope. Hell, give me 5 minutes and I'd have a way to safely ferry elderly and babies, too. That shit's horrible!
