Opinion Biden might be the best president in US history

I never had Biden ranked ahead of Obama. I remember disagreeing about how much of a uniter they were. I think both of them made efforts in that direction, but both were insanely hated by their opponents.

Maybe it was RP then lol. But yea remember that too, I think Obama was hated more because at least with Biden things were used to argue against him, some more just than others like immigration, inflation, stuff like that. Obama was more like "he might not have been born here" and "look at that suit" LOL but not necessarily his policies or decisions were brought into play which worked a lot better for his time.

What do you mean? What rule do you think OP violated? If anything he put more effort into his thread than most.

I don't agree Biden is the best president ever but you could make the argument he's the best of the 21st century. That's in part because the competition is a bit thin when you narrow it that much.

Why wouldn’t they let him run again then?

People really hated the ACA, though it wasn't like that was based on some deep analysis of it. Same with financial reform (more complicated than most people can process, but people still had a vague idea that it was "socialism" and raged against it). Biden also got a lot of hate for fake stuff. Just saying they both tried to reach out, they both were still hated, and that hatred was based on a mix of crazy stuff, things that happened that they didn't have much to do with, and real policy changes.

I actually forgot about the financial reform yea that was bad. Was probably at the top of what I liked that he did during his run because I was so hands-on with the financial work at the time in my career so I was super intrigued, and I remember many wild takes that had nothing to do with the actual reform, almost like being mad that he was doing something good lol. Might have been the farthest "what he's doing vs what is being said" take for those 8 years.

It's interesting how memory-holed all the arguments from that era have become. You'd think that if the arguments were totally different, the people arguing would have totally realigned, but that's not really what happened. It's made me more cynical, especially about the right. Like, I used to think people really cared about deficits, the importance of markets, and Evangelical religion, and that was why they supported the GOP. But all of that stuff has been dropped, and instead of switching parties or something, they just moved on to thinking that immigration and transgender people are the big issues.
