betting on JDS = GSP/Serra III and betting on Serra

Hope the first page proved to you how pitiful your argument is, TS. Then again, maybe the 1 in 100 moronic responses like MarkHammer's might make you feel vindicated.

JDS wrecked people prior to putting Cain away. He aims to do what he did to Cain, in every fight he's in, and has a track record for getting it done. If he does it again, neither should that be called a fluke. It should be called JDS is a scary man. But that's not to say Cain isn't. These 2 are the best Heavyweights in MMA for a reason. They're 1-1 against eachother for a reason. And threads like this that discredit either guy are a fucking joke.

TS is right. Much like the first and second GSP/Serra fights, one guy proved to hit hard, the other proved to be a vastly superior fighter. JDS fans are a very delusional bunch.

Um no. Cain was fighting a zombie after the first round, where he landed that bomb. Nothing impressive about taking a guy to a decision, who was essentially knocked out in the first round.

Matt Serra is a great guy and was good. But he got onto a show and made up to his title shot during a weak period in the WW division. He took his shot and capitalized on GSP not expecting him to come out and throw bombs.

Its a legit win no doubt. But if they fought 50 more times, GSP would have won all 50.

JDS and Velasquez are the 2 best HW's in the world and their skill level is basically identical.

JDS is the better pure striker, but Velasquez' boxing has come a long way and he is now one of the best strikers at HW.

Cain has the better wrestling , but JDS got back to his feet every time he was taken down, which shows how far JDS' wrestling has come.

Neither guy is a submission specialist.

If they fought 50 times, both fighters would take a chunk of those fights.

Not the same.

Okay I'll bite.

JDS has 16 wins, 14 by finish (87.5%) and 10 by first round finish (62.5%).
Cain has 12 wins, 10 by finish (83.33%).

JDS got rocked very early by Cain and Cain still couldn't come up with the finish. Likewise JDS knocking Cain out is no fluke. I'm not sure who but some guy on here but out an entire thread on that very point. It would be one thing to say Cain is more well rounded, Cain will win again, Cain is better, etc...
But to compare this fight to GSP/Serra seems to illustrate a lack of understanding into how analogies operate.

Surely you must be trolling, no one is this retarded.

Although this is Sherdog. Wouldn't be surprised if you are 100% serious.

And you are a biased nuthugger.

first fight = fluke knockout
second fight = world class ass beating

Would you bet on Serra if he fought GSP fought? So how can JDS have so many people thinking he's going to win???

JDS was known for knocking people out and people questioning Cains chin after the Kongo fight. He threw a punch trying to take his head off and he landed. The was his 1st power punch he threw it landed like other fights before. No fluke.

go and put your money where your mouth is hotshot.
Cain is at -200.

Well JDS is the #1 ranked HW and went 9-0 in the UFC before losing to Cain.. Serra won the ultimate fighter

JDS kills the rest of the division, Serra would lose to a lot of WWs..
now close the thread.

Terrible analogy. JDS and Cain are the two best HW's by far in the world right now, and the two best in UFC history. Serra was a footnote in the WW division.

JDS at those odds isnt that horrible a bet but if he dont hurt or finish Cain by 3min in i would rip up the betting slip. If he is backing up from the get go i would rip up the betting slip.

Yes....unfortunately for some , the Serra win was a fluke. The gap between GSP and Serra is so wide that we cannot consider it otherwise. The gap between JDS and Cain is not nearly as wide. Cain is definitely the best overall fighter but JDS' striking is on another level. He is maybe the best boxer in MMA right now. This is going to be a war....
