Not saying that Rampage was superior in the striking defense art, but that was beautiful. First thing that popped up when I read the title.

Rampage does have good defence, just not with his legs!

Imo his striking defence is better than other elusive fighters since they rely on footwork more, Yan is throwing hands in your face while defending shots

I do think that letting yourself get drawn into brawls/letting your emotions get the better of you should be taken into account when talking about striking defense though.

Perhaps but when he is on he is on like no one else.

there is a lot of talk about leg kick defense and Aldo hardly ever gets brought up but he checks kicks (defense) very well.

When he was leg kicking he did subtle things like stepping out and taking his head off the center line (in addition to setting the kicks up with his punches; which is offence and defense rolled in to one.)
