What do you mean? Those movies are almost never spoken about. When it comes to SK you get the standard, 2001, clockwork orange, full metal jacket, the shining convos. You almost never hear eyes wide shut.
It's a theme in the movie. It was almost the title l, I believe, or at least part of it. Should be on some covers and maybe posters (or at least was going to be). If you listen really closely during the ritual scene, I swear, you can hear one of the voices saying it (in the backwards recordings).

It's almost the whole point - all of this shit is going on, but your eyes are "wide shut" because you're not even looking.

Came down to FMJ, shining and Clockwork for me. Rolled some dice and it came up Full Metal Jacket.

. Dr. Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb: Sucked.

. 2001: A Space Odyssey: A great classic movie, specially for 1968. Weird ending.

. A Clockwork Orange: A good movie.

. The Shining: Sucked.

. Full Metal Jacket: First half was great, second half sucked.

. Eyes Wide Shut: Sucked. Great looking women and breasts.

Kubrick has a talent for making movies longer than they have to be and ending all his movies badly. Its like the guy has a great story to tell but does not know how to end it. Ridley Scott is a better director with far better movies.

I thought u were being sarcastic. That was a good mention on your part tho.

Don't understand why people say the second half of FMJ sucks

Its a tough transition..almost like 2 different movies but it doesn't suck

The Shining was great, but not faithful to the source material. Full Metal was great. Clockwork was unique and very good. 2001 was slow. Didn’t see the rest.
Spielberg makes different movies, but I enjoy his movies more.

Probably The Shining for me.

But I do love me some Eyes Wide Shut.

"I'll have a beer."

Although, to be fair, Tom Cruise does that in every movie.

I love it. (I use that bit often at the bar.)

Without the IMDB boards - A Clockwork Orange

With the IMDB boards. - Eyes Wide Shut

I couldn't believe the amount of hidden info was posted on those forums about Eyes Wide Shut.
When they got rid of the boards, they also erased all that valuable information.
It's the equivalent of setting One Eyed Willy's treasure map on fire in the Goonies before they even left the house.

What is so compelling about Eyes Wide Shut? I saw it only once, shortly after its release, and found it to be an interesting film with building tension which spontaneously ended without any closing act.

1. The Shining, 10/10

2. Barry Lyndon, 9,5/10

3. Paths of Glory, 9/10

4. 2001: A Space Odyssey, 9/10

5. Eyes Wide Shut, 8,5/10

And for the rest of his films, I´m more torn. Full Metal Jacket has a very strong first half, but the war scenes leaves a lot to question. From a director known for being a perfectionist, he should have dared to get outside of UK and filmed the second part in a sub-tropical location, instead of importing palmtrees to decorate the second half of the movie. I can see that I gave FMJ only a score of 6 in my IMDb movie list.

I'm Spartacus. No I'm Spartacus!

it's not my favorite of his, but it has to be 2001.
My favorite is Dr. Strangelove, though I understand how it could be completely dismissed as failed satire. I don't love 2001 but as far as "greatest" - it's a great film. I think Mel Brooks' parody of the opening scene is pretty much on the money.

This is a tough one. Dr. Strangelove, 2001, A Clockwork Orange, The Shining and Full Metal Jacket are all cinematic classics imo. I voted for A Clockwork Orange, but could have easily voted for any of the others I mentioned.

I guess it's not a surprise that The Shining leading so far, followed by Full Metal Jacket.

2001: A Space Odyssey is a sci fi masterpiece so i went with that, i also like Eyes wide shut
