Prolly not his best, but once I understood it (Broad theme and a glimpses/bit of cryptic messages: Christmas lights & Desire/Disappointment) Eyes Wide Shut became favorite.

Probably The Shining for me.

But I do love me some Eyes Wide Shut.

"I'll have a beer."

Although, to be fair, Tom Cruise does that in every movie.

I love it. (I use that bit often at the bar.)

The Shining because its a horror masterpiece but its a travesty Eyes Wide Shut only has 2 votes. Its one of my favorite Kubrick films.

Being a genre film enthusiast, my answer is, of course, going to include THE SHINING. But if I'm completely honest my favorite is LOLITA. I've loved that film since I was a kid & it led me to read Nabokov's novel as a young teen. Which turned me onto finer literature. So, yeah, it's LOLITA with THE SHINING as a very close second choice.

Interesting to see how popularity/credability has shifted with time, growing up in the late 80's and 90's I'd say 2OO1, Clockwork Orange and Full Metal Jacket were probably the best regarded, maybe with Strangelove just behind but The Shining does definately seem to have grown in populairty alot since, Barry Lyndon gradually getting a bit more attention as well.

Hell I like you, you can come to my house and fuck my sister
Tennis balls.

(That's like saying, "Balls," only with tennis added to the front, since R. Lee Ermey has footage doing that drill instructor gimmick while being pelted by tennis balls, without repeating himself. And now: sports.)

Fidelio = like

"He's probably back home bangin... Mrs. Nick."

Yea, it's a great one.

Lots of great quotes from it, as well.

The Shining, easily.

2001 was shit. Well, the first third was pretty good, but then it went to shit real quick after that.

This is a good bump.
And I do think Kubrick is the GOAT director. Either Kubrick or Fellini.
Anyhow, The Shining has been my favorite film since I was a little kid, so of course it’s my choice. I haven’t seen all of Kubrick’s films, but I’m not surprised to see the Shining at #1 and FMJ at #2. 2001 is a masterpiece as well, as is a Clockwork Orange.

edit: Actually, I think Clockwork would be my #2. FMJ #3.

Hell ya go this pre ordered coming out next month. Already seen previews and it looks flawless. The Shining, 2001 Space Odyssey are also epic on 4K.

torn between 2001 & Barry Lyndon. voted for the latter though, because i figured it needed some love in the poll.

2001 is one of the most important films in my life because i saw it for the first time at a very formative moment in my teens when i was figuring out my love for cinema & it really opened my eyes to the potential for film & what one can experience when watching something truly masterful. Barry Lyndon on the other hand i watched very late in life (first time was only two years ago), but have watched it 10+ times since then. it’s literally perfect in every way & each time i watch it i convince myself just a little bit more that it is Kubrick’s true masterpiece.
