Michael Bisping vs Yoel Romero is probably never going to happen unless Romero looks like a shell of himself

with some of the back and forth, for a minute the fight seemed destined to happen and then came along GSP
this got me thinking, what are some other fights that seemed destined but for some reason or another never happened?

I mean for Yoel Romero/Bisping

holy shit promotional gold

The other one that jumps to my mind is Fedor/Couture

Much like Romero/Bisping, I doubt it would have been competitive, but it seemed like it was going to happen for sure after Randy left the UFC

Conor McGregor vs. anybody who isn't Nate Diaz or Eddie Alvarez.

Define rivalry

Antagonism, verbal sparring, mutual dislike, hostility, competition. A contest between two people or organizations born either of an established tense competition or emotional friction .

They never crossed paths in any meaningful event, never spoke ill of one another, and really never in any way set sights on one another. Randy did of course want to compete with Fedor to test himself, but it was amicable and professional. There was never any hype generated by Fedor on this potential matchup and the two never even engaged in a face-off
