Best Places to Train in the LA area?

Just an FYI..

Schedule is M/W/F GI and Tues/Thursday Nogi. When did you plan on stopping by? Cobrinha will be in Europe for a few weeks, so if you want to catch him make sure to call the school to make sure he's in.

I visited LA just to train back in August.

Cohbrina's school would be the easy choice and I've heard good things even from other's in the LA area, my only concern would be the price. 10th Planet would be cool, Burbank was the one I checked out, Cade Nelson was a great teacher the one night I had him as the instructor.

But I wouldn't be doing my 'family' proud if I didn't say go check out Rigan Machado's school in Beverly Hills! Brand new facility AND you get to learn from an 8th degree black belt himself. He's my sensei's sensei, great guy all in all.

if you want to know the best place i can tell you that:

Instructor Jean Jacques Machado only Red and black belt in the area and he has many blackbelt world champs. price is high but it is worth the price.

Your wisdom is second to none, my friend.

But the greater LA area has so many good schools. Nobody who lives anywhere around there should have any problem finding a place that suits their needs.

I've called their Culver City Academy about visiting an open mat once, and I got no response. Do they mind drop ins? I don't want to stop by disrespectfully, but I'd like to train sometime with you guys.

We don't mind drop ins on Sundays. Just give me an email or PM, I am usually there every other Sunday depending on my schedule. Would be great to train with you, and there are usually some excellent high belts there.

Also, I wouldn't expect them to ever answer the phone. Just how it is ...

On a cool related note, Jimmy stopped by my academy last week!

Go F12!

TrumpetDan, that was an awesome class! I really like how you conducted the practice, and I was impressed how you actually used the TV (common in BJJ academies now) to show moves related to the practice (and not just a photo slideshow or random matches).

Zankou, I'm competing on this Sunday and next Sunday I'm out of town, but after that I'd like to stop by to train!

Thanks! I appreciate the kind words

I trained with the guys from Robot BJJ tonight. Awesome dudes, and superb, technical jiu-jitsu. I would train there in a heartbeat.
