Best Non Lethal Self Defense Weapon

What would be the best concealable non lethal weapon for self defense? I live in Canada guns, mace and just about everything is illegal and I'd like to get my girlfriend something for self defense.

I've gotten kind of fond the the Kelly worden Impact Karambit or travel wrench. It takes a little skill to get submissions with, but with the bottom of the L sticking out of the bottom of your fist, it can do some damage.

I thought a weapon was lethal per se maybe I have been mistaken my whole life.

surefire makes a tactical light with a blunt trauma front end. blindingly bright at night or low light and will cause some serious bleeding. keep it in a purse alongside some pepper spray, blind them and hold the light, step to the side, its bright as fuck and then if they keep acting hostile, spray them or club the shit out of them with it.

oh and one more thing. as far as like pepper spray goes. i dont think you should worry about legality of it. there are much worse things that evil people can do to you that cannot be healed than a fine and slap on the wrist for carrying a can of pepper spray that in honesty would only be found if you had to use it.

yo how much does that thing run for?

My instructors been telling me that I need to get a hold of a little flashlight, I was about to go to target to get one, until i saw this. If the price isn't killer i think i'll go for this, how big is it?
i would much rather carry around a flashlight then a knife...actually a flashlight knife combo would not be too bad either!

To TS:
A small stun gun is concealable and very effective. Check local laws. Also, a yawara stick can be good, and fits pocket, but requires her to strike. Pepper spray/mace, more potent the better. You say it's for a small female, so IMHO best not to have to strike with a potentially bigger opponent. Mace/pepper spray and stun gun would be my recommendation to you.

I live in canada, and would definatly suggest bear spray, you can pick it up at your local canadian tire, and its perfectly legal I think, at least around where I live there are lots of bears! dunno if it would be legal in a metro area.

she could use little things as weapons

pens
hairspray
keys [bass showed how to kill with them on his dvd]

FOX Pepper Spray will burn your eyeballs out of your head.

Canada's laws are really favorable...for criminals. You gotta love knowing that you can mug anyone without fear that they'll have a gun, pepper spray or pretty much anything deadlier than their bad breath. Your GF should take a situational awareness class. The best defense is never getting in the situation in the first place.

RGJJ = at first glance I thought that was a lightsaber - that would be ideal for any self defense situation.

A maglite. It can be used just like eskrima sticks.

Have any of you guys had success using a flashlight to distract someone?

Yes I specifically remember butting someone in the liver with my 6 D-Cell Maglite and he was, indeed, very distracted.

I meant shining it in their eyes.

I've had it done to me.

My dad has a small Surefire he carries, and keeps next to his pistol if he needs them to check out possible uninvited guests in the home at 3:00 AM. Anyway, after briefly talking about claims that it can have something of an incapacitating effect, we decided to settle the question and he shined it at my face in a room with low (read: not pitch-dark) light. I would liken the experience to having a flash-bang (minus the bang) go off in your face. I couldn't see, and was disoriented briefly, took a but longer to get my full vision back.

In a dark living room? Shit, you could empty a gun into someone and reload before they got done staggering around trying to figure out where you are to attack you.

Under different circumstances: yeah, the big Mag-Lites with the multiple D batteries can blind someone (albeit less effectively, but well enough) to allow you to lay it across a collarbone ot the base of their skull and remove them as a threat.

I've been flashed with the Streamlight Scorpion Xenon and that also sucks and its alot cheaper then the Surefire defender at 35 bucks online as opposed to 110 dollars. If you live in Toronto there are tons of places to get the compact dog pepper spray and that works just fine on people. Ive tested that cheap dog pepper spray on myself and it seriously sucks, its not illegal specially if the cops find it on a girl. You can get it for 11 bucks at any surplus store. If you live in Toronto PM me i ll give u directions to a good place.

Similar to what some bouncers do at clubs. Shine the flashlight in your eye.

I would recommend one of these if mace or air tasers are not an option.

I would not recommend a baton or black jack. The bad thing about blunt force weapons is that they can be easily grabbed and used against you. The other weapons mentioned require no physical contact with the assailant, so grabbing a flashlight/can of mace is much less likely to happen.
