Some of the other posters have said guys I was thinking of, so I'll say Demian Maia, he had a great career in MMA but never ever won a belt, and he fought for the belt a couple of times as well.

Maia is probably the goat grappler but as a fighter he had limited skillset

Prime Diego was a force, he beat Florian, Diaz, Josh Koscheck, Joe Riggs... Karo.... Guida... he got his ass beat by prime BJ Penn but that was probably close to the best BJ ever... his limited striking failed him later but he was a great grappler with huge heart.

I did not consider interim titles when I made the post. For me and no disrespect intended to the interim belt holders, the interim belt is a notch below the champion title.

Cuz he's legitimately one of the stupidest posters on this site. I have no idea how a conversation about "who wasn't good enough to get a title?" gets the complaint of "you're just saying a bunch of people who weren't good enough to get a title," by a person who doesn't need to remind themselves to breathe, but MarkG is a marvel against modern science

Credit to him here though: his brain cells ALMOST rubbed together enough to make a point about great fighters that never got a chance, but his failure to name one and justify them being better than multiple time title challengers kinda empties that attempt

I really doubt it. Fitch had a long win streak but it wasn't like he cleaned out the division like Max Holloway.

The best guy he fought in his prime by far was Diego Sanchez and he won by split. i dont remember that fight, but I cant imagine Fitch would be champion for a very long time.
