Best LHW from 2000-2009?

Wand had more fights but imo Shogun was the superior fighter.

Chuck was great but I think Shogun and honestly maybe Rampage are slightly ahead by the simple fact that the weight class was on fire in PRIDE.

Heart says Wand.
Brain says prime Shogun.
So I go with Wand.

I will say Wanderlei was more flexible. He had some wins at HW and MW as well. I could never see Rua do well @ HW with that TDD, he would get thrown around and hurt a lot like what Colemanm did to him. Wanderlei would never stay down, he was a pitbull.

Maybe Rampage?

It's rare that you see one fighter treat another like a complete bitch twice like Page did to Chunk. Page also beat essentially the same version of Wandy that Chunk beat.

Putting Chunk ahead of Page never really made any sense.

It's always been difficult with LHW because the division is historically top heavy and all the top guys traded wins and losses. I honestly don't think any single fighter stands well above the pack.

It just feels weird having Wand so low when it was him and whoever the top UFC guy for so long
I felt the same way, as I had him higher but then had to keep bumping him down the list while going over it and was actually quite surprised.

It seems the consensus leans towards a healthy Shogun is #1, while the rest is the entire debate.

Any of the top 4 are interchangeable and from there it's a bit of a mess as they all traded losses, moved between divisions, fell out of there primes and stopped fighting (Arona). It's all perception. But as a fan this is the golden era of the LHW divisions and we didn't know just how spoilt we where
I can't believe we watched that GP and believed "The division is going to keep getting better from here!"

Literally every Shogun fan was saying it was the best version of him and he was a new evolved Shogun.
Hopium.

Shogun already had a knee surgery before the Forrest fight, then one after the Forrest fight, and one more before his fight with Chuck. After the first Macida fight he had another knee surgery while prepping for the rematch. Four total. Most athletes are never the same after one.

i know this because I was one of those Shogun fans spreading hopium.

I don't see why so many people are saying shogun. Wand had way more accomplishments in pride when they were both at their prime and wand used to beat shogun up in training too.

the most talented and the most stacked division
funny thing 23 year old kid jones whos not even on his prime would demolish them all

to answer ops question its hard when they are all that talented
shogun has to be number 1
i say machida could beat them all
the machida that run through the LHW division point fighting
not the machida that was pressured to finish fights

Literally no one said that cuz the knee injuries were known. He was good in the machida fights but clearly not as explosive and he got injured many more times after. Stop making shit up

Funny that Jones was riding and eye poking his way to wins while beating a bunch of guys who were declining. Only prime win was Machida.

Even funnier is that prime Jones would need gift decisions to keep his record vs mediocre Reyes and Santos

We've tried to do this so many times but LHW was just too difficult to make a definitive ranking.

1. Shogun

2a. Wandy
2b. Page
2c. Chunk

I rank it this way mainly because Page decimated Chunk twice and Wandy decimated Page twice when they were, at the very least, somewhat close to their primes. You can make arguments for different orderings and I probably wouldn't have an issue with it.

Page, Chunk, Wanderlei is basically rock paper scissors lol

Forrest deserves a mention tbh. Maybe if you cut 209 out so the Anderson embarrassment isn’t in there ?

I agree with a lot of what you said. I have Chuck higher than Wand cuz when they did fight it went how I always envisioned. I have Randy lower cuz while he did great in that era of LHW he spent time at HW.

Wand vs Randy in a cage hands down goes to Randy but in a ring it would be very interesting... i dunno maybe I'd say

Shogun
Rampage
Randy
Chuck
Wand

Wandy was shot coming off two back to back KO L's when he fought Chuck.

Prime 2003-2004 Wandy destroys Chuck

Oh fuck off! Shogun fans were saying he was new and improved patient Shogun and the best he ever was after the Machida fights. Go look up any thread about Shogun from that time. It wasn't until Jones murdered him did his fans start saying he was not as good as Pride.
