I think most Americans' go-to answer would be obviously a gun for home-defense. But in my country, guns are sadly extremely difficult to obtain and civilian use is limited only to hunting.

Another one is sap gloves. Great in close quarters, can grab blades if not razor sharp and you can likely pretend you used no weapon.

Of course, knowing how to fight is important too. Chain saw wins so far imo

I say get an aluminum kids baseball bat. I say kids because it will be shorter and more easy handling in CQB. Or use some high end chef's knife with a big pot cover. That way you are like a Hoplite warrior with short stabbing sword and shield. Or you can pick up a table for your shield.
