Donnie Brasco is ridiculously good and imo the best mafia movie ever made. Heat is a super close second for me in terms of crime films.
I voted that , but mafia movies are a fine line . Heat isn’t a real mafia movie bc it’s a select guys stealing on their own not associated with actual crime syndicates . Just my two cents .

You could could actually include Raging Bull more then some of the list you have it actually involved mob influence in the movie and is a true story like some on here . Just saying .

I agree; heat is a crime movie, maifa films are a sub category and for my money Donnie Brasco is the best of the bunch.

I used to be friends with Bryan Tarantino ( RIP) the actor who played Bruno in that movie Sonny Reds kid . That’s not why I voted it I actually like the movie . Lol

He grew up with my family in Hells Kitchen in NY so he didn’t have to act to hard to know the part .lol

That's pretty cool. "Just stand there and look dangerous, friend."

He used to say that to me every time . Haha

He was great in the Summer Of Sam as well in fact I see him as that guy sometimes I forget he’s in Donnie Brasco I guess it’s just normal to me .

I remember some huge guy about 6”3 250 pounds all muscle picked him up and slammed him against the wall in this neighborhood dive bar and I was about 5”8 160 at the time and I beat that guy up , I found out it was Wlad Klitschko( the boxer ) top sparring partner for that week …well he didn’t make it back to him . Lol

Just useless info there but that was one of the last interaction we had so I never forgot that . Bryan wasn’t a fighter just a nice guy never bothered anyone I retired that guy he never boxed again.

I think its safe to say Goodfellas would easily and should easily win this poll. So, Goodfellas aside what is the best gangster film of the 90s?

For me

1. Heat
2. Pulp
3. True romance
4. Carlitos way
5. Donnie brasco
The best movie on that list (or ANY list lol) is Heat, but that is definitely not a gangster movie. Also this is the list to include London Boulevard onto, but i guess I don't understand your criteria.

A lot of these aren’t real mafia movies , Scarface is one I guess bc it has crime syndicates ? Heats good maybe great depending on taste ? Personally I like Carlitos way more then Scar Face because it’s less predictable and the lawyer character just makes the movie and it’s about a guy trying to get away from power he once had not seizing it trying to be a drug lord .

Heat is a top movie though great cast overall which makes it never old to watch . That Tom Seizmore guy is never in a bad movie even when it’s bad like the movie Paparazzi ..haha .

I went w Casino.

If you gonna leave Goodfellas off, Casino just come in there and take it.

Heat, just cause.

Then some kind of mix of Boyz N The Hood, Lock/Stock & Usual Suspects.

Heat is one of the very best movies of the 90s period.

I like Casino more than Goodfellas

The GOAT gangster flick with the who's who of cast from the early 90s!

Going with Boyz N the Hood but honestly, a lot of these choices have a good argument for being number 1.

Casino by a million miles, but Patricia Arquette in True Romance made me hit puberty two years early.
