Best fighter currently NOT in the UFC

I should’ve mentioned Anatoly Malykhin as well. A fight with Aspinall would be really interesting, I think I’d slightly favor Aspinall but I’d love to see it. Malykhin at 205 is interesting to think about too.
As cool as that would be i think Malykhin's blood consists of at least 1/3rd PEDs. I dunno if he would get past testing

I know. I was trying to find a way to say I wanted Malykhin in the UFC in his current state without making the accusation, and finally just decided not to mention it lol.

Eduard Vartanyan
Islam Omarov
Vadim Nemkov
Magomedrasul Gasanov
Shamil Musaev

I think Vart is one of the best LWs of all-time. He'd have a good shot at being UFC LW champ.

Volk is a tough match-up for Omarov, but I think he's been a top 3-5 FW in MMA for years now, and could become champ in the UFC if Volk is out of the picture.

I've thought Nemkov was the best LHW in MMA before he moved up. I'm not as convinced that he's the best HW, but I could see him becoming champ at LHW or HW.

Gasanov has been an elite MW for a long time now. I wouldn't favor him over Chimaev, but that would easily be one of, if not the toughest match-ups for Chimaev. I think he'd be a staple in the top 3-5 in UFC.

Musaev might well be the best WW in MMA. That is a very tough match-up for Makhachev. I'd feel confident about Musaev's chances.
So you though Nemkov was better then Jiri, who knocked him out?

Jiri didn't knock out Nemkov. Nemkov was just exhausted by Jiri's pace and couldnt continue after the first round. The round itself was pretty even up until the end. Nemkov had to be given oxygen IIRC.

That wasn't prime Nemkov
He didn't look great in the first Corey Anderson fight either. He's clearly a good fighter, but the lack of good, consistent competition makes it hard to evaluate a lot of these guys. Neither Bader, David or Corey fought for the title in the UFC, and Bader and Davis were old by the time they fought Nemvok.

It was a very close fight early in their career where the result were partly the result of an unusal ruleset (Nemkov retiring from exhaustion after a pride style 10 minute round of non stop action).

Very fun fight, would recommand.

Glover didn't look good against Corey Anderson either and was also old by the time he won the UFC title while Nemkov was the bellator champ. You could easily argue that Bader, David and Corey gave him a better resume than Hill's or Jiri's when they became champion.

I wouldn't pick him today against Alex, Ank or Jiri, but from 2021 through 2023 he had a very solid case for being the best light heavyweight in the world.
