Social Best Fancy Cologne?

This is becoming quite tense. I've sampled a ton of colonges recently and found like 6-7 different ones that I like. But if I were to buy them all, that would amount to like ~$700 bucks. No way am I doing that all at once. I think the best bet is to buy 2 at a time, maybe every 6-12 months until I have them all. But then again, that's a ton of cologne.

The biggest problem is I'm not sure where to start. I think I have an idea. I'm pretty sure I have #1 nailed down. But #2 keeps changing.

I'm going with Dior Homme for years - Dior Homme Sports in the summer.
Can you explain why some scents are considered best in Fall/Winter and others in Spring/Summer? What if you wear a "best in winter" scent in summer? Or vice versa?

I actually bought the cheap clone of it. Club De Nuit. That one smells ok. Not my favorite. But I'm sure, as a clone, it's like compairing Greater Value Cola to Coca Cola. They taste similar, but you can definitely tell which one is the real one.

Have a look on Essence Vault - They do pretty much everything you'd want on there mate

I sampled the Bleu Chanel Parfum and Eau De Toilette today.

Not bad. I may actually consider getting one of those too. (not sure which I liked better)

I tried Armani Code as well and it smell realy good on me.

Yeah Armani tends to be solid. Code is good. I bought Stronger With You a few years ago, loved it at first but after a while it started smelling a bit sickly sweet to me. Girls liked it though.

I would consider myself new at this. Before recently all I'd use was Axe. And before that it was Old Spice. But I finally decided to check out the good stuff.

But it's overwhelming.

Got a bottle of Tom Ford Ombré. I smell fucking nice.

My fave, used it for years and years, and it's fairly cheap.

Otherwise I like shit that smells like Ginger and/or Wood.

Is it true that cologne goes bad in the bottle after only a few years? I'm trying to figure out which ones I want to buy and I don't want to buy too many or too big a bottle if the stuff turns sour after 2-4 years.

The #1 bottle I have my eye on comes in either 100 or 200ml options. The price difference is only like $40 between the two, which is a great deal (twice as much for less than half the price of the 100ml by itself) but it'll probably take me like 10 years to use the whole thing, and that's IF I'm using it 2-3 times a week, every week (which I doubt I will). So I'm not sure which one to go for.

Not sure, I have a few bottles I’ve had for a few years that are good, I think it depends on how they are kept. To give you a example I have a bottle of Tom ford Tobacco Vanille that I’ve had for a few years (pre pandemic for sure, I also recommend this scent but it’s strong so go easy with it) it’s fine. I recently dug out a old case and found one of the travel things I’d filled up with said scent (from the same bottle). This is what I had it in

now while the scent was exactly the same (same smell same strength) the texture was different and had a very strong brown colour.

In conclusion I have no idea but go with the 200ml one

Also in one of the older threads one of you swore by this and I finally found it, yet to try it

I was just looking at Tom Ford online and it's expensive as hell. Probably too much for what I'm willing to spend on cologne. But I'll definitely go for the 200ml in the cologne I'm looking at if its still available for the deal.

Yeah I meant 200ml in what your looking at. Most Tom fords are pricy but they don’t need a lot and the scent lasts a long time, don’t think I’ve ever picked up a 200ml from Tom ford, we’ll I know I haven’t because I’d still have it now! Lol. What are you going for?

Office - Hugo Boss the scent

General night out - Hugo Boss Intense (now discontinued so I bought 4 bottles before the price inflated to over £100)

Event like a occasion or wedding - Chanel Bleu

It can do, but it's wholly dependant on the aftershave. Every time you spray, small amounts air enter the bottle which can oxidate the chemicals. The top brands use more natural oils (hence the expense) so are less vulnerable to it. They say date range is anything between 1-10 years so it's basically anyones guess.

When my nana died she had some Chanel which was at least 20 years old and still smelled new. She also had some Anaïs Anaïs of the same age that smelled like a horse pissed on some flowers from a chapel of rest

Looks like the version I got is currently out of stock, but smart play is grabbing a Sephora Sampler for $75.
I got 12 diff mini sample bottles (which are fantastic for stuffing in a bag or travel) and are good for 5+ uses each; then it comes with a promo code for a full size bottle of your choice among the 12.
Some of which have full-size cost of $100+
