Best Display of Acting on Film?

Dennis Hopper's scene in True Romance when Christopher Walken's character is questioning him about where his son is was one of my favorite scenes ever and Walken's acting is amazing in that scene too! I even took my signature from this scene.

a lot of classics here.

Two times (from the top of my head) i can say i was really overwhelmed with emotion when watching a scene, due to the portrayal of character by an actor, were:

But you'd have to watch the entire scene to grasp the impact of the overall interaction between the two characters. Sublime performance, by both Waltz and Menochet.

Something a bit new-ish, but IMO very memorable:

After that scene i had to stop the movie and grab a drink to calm down, i was completely devastated. I know this thing impacted me solely because i have small kids now, but still, truly magnificent performance. Again, this clip alone doesn't do it justice, the overall theme of the movie leads you up to this moment and you (well, I) just couldn't handle it without a pause.

Mickey Rourke from the wrestler asking for his daughter's forgiveness

I think Merisa in the strip club, approaching and getting turned down by dudes, was epic good.

That little guy from Goodfellas.

Denis Hopper from Apocalypse Now.

Shane Diesel in BBCdestroy Cuck's White Wives

Paul Newman from The Colour of Money

"You're tearing me apart, Lisa!"

"I did not hit her, it's bull shit.. I did not hit her.. oh hai Mark"

"Oh hai Denny"

"Hai doggy" ("You're my favorite customer")

I know it is from a comedy but I always thought this was an amazing display.

Seymour Hoffman as Capote, a true master class.

when Adrian brody first plays the piano for that Nazi while hiding in the bldg.

the way he's nervous, tentative, hesitant to get back in his zone and probably weary of what the Nazi will ultimately do....

then he starts playing and just gets in the feels. My gawd

The 'Eggplant scene' from True Romance comes to mind. Two great actors that have both been terrific villains going head to head.

The scene between Sam Jackson and prime Chris Tucker in Jackie Brown where Sam is asking for a favor is amazing too.

Another is the bathroom scene between J Law and Amy Adams in American Hustler where they finally confront one another. Flawless acting there by both.

But..

I recently rewatched Casino and the performance De Niro and Stone had together was fantastic.

Amazing Chemistry.

Good point. Rethinking it thats probably better scene....it's just that the hotel gun scene gets me every time because I know the outcome. Just something about the gun being pointed a Carson Wells like that and he logically knows nothing he says can get him out of the situation. Fucking terrifying
What impresses me more is before. Hes going up the stairs and Anton just casually walks up behind him. Everyone watching that movie knows he is a dead man at that moment, even though there was no dramatics...the viewer is trained to know that anton means death, and this guy talked a good game about how much he knew about this guy and it didnt make any difference at all.

One day we can have a samurai movie without a white guy starring in it somehow.

Shogun doesnt count,as thats actually really good realistic shit.

Mickey Rourke's 2 minute cameo in the Pledge was amazing.

Someone from offscreen should be throwing oscars into the room lol
